The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1476
The crowd watched on in a mixture of disbelief and morbid curiosity as the man's head flew through the air and landed at her feet. She stepped on his still-blinking eyes and moved past as if it were nothing.
And no one said a word- it was deathly silent until her figure slowly walked deeper into the city, vanishing from sight. At this point several weak-hearted individuals either passed out on the spot or keeled over in disgust, emptying the contents of their stomachs on the muddy street.
Now that her face had been revealed she did not bother covering up.
The Princess casually crossed one street after another, heading directly to the inn. This is where many of the patrons gathered after nightfall for various festivities so things were usually quite boisterous.
But when she appeared, no matter how intoxicated or inebriated one was, they did not dare stand in her way and a path was cleared straight to the backrooms, as if they knew exactly where she was headed.
And as if following a script she strolled along that path, walking directly to the back of the inn and entering the largest room as if it belonged to her.
On the other side Bertha was standing in front of a mirror fixing her hair. There were scrolls and cabinets full of all kinds of items littered around the room, with a large table and chair in the back.
This was her office.
Bertha glanced at the door with a deep frown but upon seeing who it was she could only shake her head bitterly.
"Princess Yi, should you not be at the main estate? It is the first night and all the esteemed patrons will be coming. Surely the host should be present for such an event."
She sounded respectful but her berating tone spoke volumes of their relationship.
Princess Yi walked over to the desk and carelessly took out an antique compass that was placed behind a glass window.
"I'm sure Yuki can handle a few arrogant aristocrats for the moment, don't you think so?" she asked gently, "Where is he?"
"He?" Bertha frowned, "Who are you referring to, Princess?"
Princess Yi tightened her grip, cracking the protective case the compass was in.
"Don't make me play this game again, Bertha...we both know how it ends. Just tell me where he is."
Bertha looked at the compass and then at her, "Princess, I truly do not know what you are-"
*Crush*
She slowly closed her hand, turning the compass and its 'protective' case into little more than fancy scrap metal.
"If I have to ask again I won't stop at just one."
She started walking towards the shelf where a bunch of other artifacts were on display.
"FINE! Fine, just- stop!" Bertha yelled, "Second floor, third door on the right."
Princess Yi smiled and turned to face her, "Good girl," she handed over the remains of the compass and patted her on the head before walking over to the door.
"Oh right, I almost forgot. I need the names of all the patrons who passed through here in the last ten days. Send them to the estate with all of their details."
Bertha was in no position to deny her request, especially since she was well aware of the cruel lengths Princess Yi was willing to go to just to make a point.
"Sure...but it will take some time. What do I say when they ask why?"
"Hmm. Tell them that...the Song Clan invites them to celebrate the marriage of their crown prince."
"But...why?" Bertha couldn't help but question, "It has already been more than 6 months since the ceremony ended."
Princess Yi rolled her eyes while shaking her head wearily as if just the act of speaking to her was draining.
"Because it is not actually about that absurd celebration. I am looking for the- just do what I told you, and wear something else! That dress makes you look fatter than you already are."
*SLAM*
She shut the door behind her and strode up to the second floor, stopping in front of the 3rd door on the right as Bertha had told her.
*Knock*Knock*Knock*
"Is that Lucas? Come in darling," a deep voice called out from the other side and the door unlocked.
She pushed it open and walked in without a second thought. A young man in his late teens was standing in front of the bed holding a jug of wine. He was completely in the nude.
"Hey- who are you? You are not allowed in here!" he jumped back in a fright, hitting the bed and almost falling over.
But another man appeared out of nowhere, taking the jug from his hand and gently laying him down on the bed in the blink of an eye. He looked over at Princess Yi, "What? Didn't I tell you not to disturb me when I'm cultivating?"
