The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1583

That ribbon was identical to the one her mother had made for the stray that always used to hang around, and this cat was the spitting image of the one that always used to ignore her as a child.

Seeing it again out of nowhere- for a second Lady Yuki thought she was back in the estate on that fateful night surrounded by the roaring flames. She could smell the blood and the embers in the air and hear the groans and crackle of support beams as they fell around her.

But then the cat meowed and pulled her back to the present breaking the spell.

Lady Yuki clutched her collar while breathing heavily, gasping- FIGHTING for every breath. Her knees buckled pulling her to the ground.

For a few seconds the cat stared at her coldly before jumping down.

"Mew..."

She climbed onto her lap and rubbed up against her stomach. Distracted by the sensation Lady Yuki looked down at her only to find the cat staring right back.

Breaking out in a cold sweat from the hyperventilation, she chuckled while mumbling stutteringly, "You always d-did look very clean and p-pure."

Almost like she could understand her words, the cat purred while lovingly putting her front paws on her chest.

Lady Yuki gently brushed her fingers over its back which distracted her just long enough to put off the impending anxiety attack.

She smiled, "Thank you. Are you really...her? Where did you come from?"

The cat turned and ran around the corner.

"Hey, wait!" Lady Yuki called out but the cat didn't seem to have any plans of stopping for her so she went after it.

She turned around the corner just in time to see the cat heading down some hole in a wall and disappear. Lady Yuki rushed over to the spot while huffing and puffing but there was no hole in sight.

It was just an ordinary grey wall with no openings and nowhere for the cat to pass through.

"Where...did you go?"

As she touched the wall in disbelief it gave way after a moment, letting her hand go right through.

Her eyes widened and with a loud gulp she walked straight inside.

Lady Yuki appeared on the other side of the shattered gateway, standing at the foot of the Night Market.

Her heart was in her throat as she stared wide-eyed at the impossible sight, equally aghast and awestruck.

'What...is this place...WHERE is this place?!'

She had only taken a few steps forward when she ran into something.

"HEY! Watch where you're going long-legs!" a well-dressed goblin yelled at her while walking out of the shop.

Although understandably taken aback by this sudden turn of events Lady Yuki still did not forget her manners and quickly apologized, "Oh, s-sorry!"

The goblin dusted off its suit and stepped back to take another look at his would-be 'attacker'.

"Another newbie huh?" he said eyeing her out, "I'd lend you my services but I'm off for the night. Good luck, human."

He waved at her and disappeared behind one of the many strange creatures here.

Lady Yuki was so overwhelmed by everything that she just walked around the market aimlessly for several minutes trying to take everything in.

There were all kinds of stores every few steps but none of them were selling anything she had ever heard about before.

"Special discount- A portal key to a brand-new ruined world! Buy one and get just that one! Take it while it's still burning!"

"Two for one deal! Buy one poison-giant head and get a leg for free! Alchemists get a discount!"

"We've got a mysterious egg over here for just 500 gold! Anyone who touches it dies! Only 600 gold now!"

"The location of Labyrinth of the Handless Witch has been discovered, 50 gold for the information!"

A smoke-covered hand reached out and grabbed Lady Yuki by the shoulder. She turned to look at the person but it had no face. It was literally just smoke in the shape of a human being.

This 'entity' gestured towards a store to the left while a female-esque voice came from where its chest would be.

"Hello miss, can I interest you in a free trial of our new skin removal program? It is remarkably painful! Just 200 gold and we can get you started right away."

She quickly pulled away while shaking her head, "N-No thank you, it took me a long time to grow this one out!"

"Are you sure? Wouldn't you feel so much better with nothing holding you down?"

"Yes...q-quite sure! Haha...ha..."

As Lady Yuki tried to get away she bumped into something behind her.

"Eyy, where you steppin?!" a voice yelled.

Lady Yuki jumped to the side, "O-Oh I'm so sorry sir-"

But when she looked at the creature her mouth fell open.
