The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1542

By the time the golden light dissipated, Hao Xuan and Nae Shin found themselves standing face to face in a grey void surrounded by fog on all sides.

'???'

Hao Xuan looked around warily. Both of them had been moved to this empty space with their physical bodies intact so it couldn't be a spiritual connection.

'I didn't sense anything nefarious either. What is this place?' he wondered.

"Woah! It worked!" Nae Shin exclaimed excitedly while looking around, prompting a raised eyebrow from Hao Xuan.

"You know where we are?"

His head bobbed up and down passionately, "Un! It's a gift from the master!"

"A gift? He told you that?"

Nae Shin scratched his chin thoughtfully, "Kind of? He didn't talk to me directly but it was still him!"

'He must have conversed with a tendril of his Will,' Hao Xuan concluded, 'That's a good sign. As long as it wasn't him in person I should be safe.'

He relaxed considerably knowing that.

"Alright then, what is this place? Why are we here?"

"It is a special gift for me! A separate space I can enter when I'm alone, and anyone with the same mark can come with me. It is made for training and we can use any skills and abilities in here."

"Really?!"

Hao Xuan's gaze turned green with envy, 'None of them offered me anything of the sort! What the hell?? He must have really liked having Nae Shin as a servant, huh? Having a place like this is nothing short of a godsend for a cultivator just starting out.'

But he couldn't bring himself to admit that to his face.

"Huh, not bad I guess. Kind of boring though, isn't it?" Hao Xuan grumbled while looking around, nitpicking at every little thing, "What if I'm not around to spar with you? Are you just going to throw punches at the air?"

The corner of Nae Shin's lips reached all the way to his ears as he flashed a smug grin, "Hehe, not exactly! Come out!"

With a clap of his hands, the fog in the distance began to churn before releasing a group of seven faceless wooden puppets that sprinted towards them with various weapons ranging from swords, bows, and spears to hammers and whips.

"DID YOU SEE THAT?!" Nae Shin shouted while jumping with joy, "I can even ask for training equipment and there is no shortage of energy either!"

*Swoosh*

*Rumble*

All manners of weights, bags, and even a water feature sprouted up from the ground like it was nothing. Hao Xuan's defeated expression spoke volumes but all he could do was pout in silence.

*Sigh*

'Whatever. No point feeling bad about it, better to focus on myself.'

While Nae Shin busied himself with exploring the limits of this training space Hao Xuan went to check his blessings when he found a message from the King in Yellow waiting for him.

'A good servant is its own reward!' it read followed by a notification that 60,000 favour had been gifted to him for his 'service' to the King in Yellow.

"WHAT?!" he yelled out loud without realizing it.

"W-What?! What's going on?!" Nae Shin looked over suspiciously but Hao Xuan waved him away without even looking.

"Nothing! I just had a...small epiphany..."

"Oh...okay."

As Nae Shin returned to playing with the puppets Hao Xuan could hardly contain himself.

'This changes EVERYTHING! Sixty THOUSAND favour for recommending a single person?! This is- the possibilities are endless!'

His mind ran wild with the many new prospects this would bring to him but the celebration was rather short-lived. Both of them were unceremoniously kicked out of the training space when someone knocked on the door and broke Nae Shin's concentration.

Hao Xuan cracked the door open to peer at the person outside. It was an old lady with an unfriendly countenance staring daggers at him. Her face was covered with tribal tattoos while fancy-looking metal picks hung her ears and nose.

"Salutations," she gave a cold greeting before taking a step back to pull open a large white scroll.

"The gathering of the ancient clans will be held in two days time. Lord Nae Shin is invited for dinner at Lady Yukio's residence, tonight, to prepare for the upcoming event."

Without waiting for a response she placed the scroll down and walked away with small measured steps.

While she went down nearly half a dozen servants made their way up, carrying all manner of gifts ranging from clothes and jewellery to ornaments and weapons. They pushed Hao Xuan aside before kicking him out altogether.

"No slaves allowed!" one of them growled while shutting the door in his face.

"NO!" Nae Shin's pleading voice carried over through the door, "He is okay, you can let him in!"

"We cannot, young master! It brings dishonor to your ancestors to be in the same room with his kind for too long!"

Hao Xuan shook his head out of frustration and knocked on the door once, "It's fine. Go and have fun today, I will see you later."
