The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1457

Hao Xuan was so shocked by the price that he cursed out at the top of his lungs. Fortunately for him all the staff and patrons were out on the street busy admiring the aurora to pay any attention to him.

"!?!"

He lowered his voice but continued cursing out the numbers in front of his eyes.

"20,000 fucking favour?! For the FIRST level?! How many levels are there?? How long is this supposed to take?!"

At first it sounded a little too extreme considering killing even a god or two only grants a few thousand points but when he thought about it a bit more it made sense.

"I guess this is what they meant when they said 'being a champion is both a gift and a curse' huh? At least I don't have to worry about any of the others since they are lower....tsk," he clicked his tongue after a brief moment of hesitation before clicking on it.

The favour fell from 144,221 to 124,221 all at once, making Hao Xuan's heart ache from the loss. But when he returned to the Blessing Listings the difference was obvious.

The cost for many of the blessings, especially the ones given by the Void Mother fell by approximately 20%.

The other blessings also saw a reduction but by around 5-8% at most.

"...."

"Huh...okay...maybe that was worth it. Can I upgrade to the next level?" he switched back to the other page but his hopes were crushed without any warning.

The cost of the next upgrade was 80,000 Favour.

"Maybe...another time, when I have more to burn through. Let's see how much the other marks cost to upgrade," one by one he went to each of the other marks and made a mental note of all the prices.

Almost every price was different since it depended on several factors from his current affinity with that deity to that deity's relationship with the Void Mother or her camp, whose champion he was.

It went something like this:

- The Scarlet King: 4,000 Favour

- The Prince of Decay: 16,000 Favour

- Throne of the Deep: 10,000 Favour

- The Blind God: 10,500

- The Slumbering One: 11,000

- The King in Yellow: 2,000 Favour

- The Forgotten Horror: 26,000 Favour

- The Silent Father: 11,000 Favour

Seeing the numbers vary from only 2,000 to 26,000 Hao Xuan realized another thing.

"This is a good way to measure which of the Nine sees me more favorably. The King in Yellow only wants 2,000 favour which I assume is the lowest he can ask for, followed closely by the Scarlet King....but why him? Didn't he take Max as a Champion just to mess with me??"

Max was the Champion of the Sect of Madness, chosen personally by the Scarlet King or the King in Red.

'I know Max is after me but maybe that's not the case for his master...Interesting.'

But the most concerning was also the one that sounded the most dangerous.

"The Forgotten Horror wants...26,000 Favour?! Why?? I don't even know who he- she or IT is, why does it dislike me?"

After a brief brainstorming session Hao Xuan came to the conclusion that the average "neutral" value was roughly around Ten to Eleven thousand favour and anything above that meant that they disliked or even hated him.

"Safe to assume that the ones with the highest cost might even send someone after me, for whatever reason. But at least I have two others who like me, one being the King in Yellow and the other the King in Red."

He didn't even have to consider it and upgraded both of their marks without a second thought. The total favour now stood at 118,221.

"I can do...one more, one of the neutral ones maybe..."

But to figure out which was the best option Hao Xuan needed to do a little more research. He went back to the listings to check if there were any similarities between them, or what their main differences were and the results were...interesting to say the least.

The Silent Father was the one who gave most of the blessings related to enriching the land and other secondary blessings while the Blind God had a large variety that ranged from the smallest to the biggest blessings but there didn't appear to be any similarities among them.

The Slumbering one gave out the most blessings related to the well-being of individuals, ranging from getting a good night's sleep to increased recovery while resting, being able to rest anywhere, eat most things, and the like.

The blessings belonging to the Throne of the Deep were the most focused out of all. They were mostly associated with elemental blessings related to water, earth, air etc while the rest had something to do with increasing or keeping one's wealth.

There were of course exceptions to each one but the majority fell into those few categories.
