The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1566
The shade somersaulted away without wasting a breath- even though the body he was inhabiting was not flexible enough to pull it off.
Several ligaments in the hunter's shoulder snapped like bowstrings but it made little difference to the shade controlling it. He tried to distance himself but Hao Xuan was not going to let that happen again.
He pulled out a random movement technique from the thousands stored in his memories to catch up with the hunter like a ghost.
"There you are," he whispered into its ears, "Lot thinner than I expected. New diet?"
*BOOM*
A swift punch to the abdomen embedded the hunter into the pavement as if he was always a part of it.
*BOOM*BOOM*
He landed two more hits just in case but was surprised to see that all the damage was received by the hunter and none of it had transferred over to the shade, despite it using its powers to protect the hunter's body.
He grabbed the hunter by the throat and raised him into the air to get a better look at him from both sides.
*Whistle*
"Now that's a surprise. How are you doing that?" he was fairly impressed and slightly envious of its ability to defend its host without any obvious drawbacks.
"Do you not have a physical presence at all on this plane? Why don't you come work for me, huh? I guarantee you won't regret it," he flashed a grin as the shade tried its best to free the hunter from his grasp.
But try as he may, Hao Xuan's physical strength was second to none within the same realm.
"I-IMPUDENT!" the hunter splattered blood across his face trying to speak which made him worried.
"Woah hey hey, calm down. What happens if this body gets destroyed? Won't you have to return to the other side? Stay and talk to me, I have so many questions!"
Hao Xuan was trying to be honest but his normal sarcastically derisive tone of voice made it seem like he was mocking the creature.
It hissed at him- not the hunter but the shade itself.
Tendrils of its true form shot out like spiderwebs trying to dig into Hao Xuan's flesh but the moment they passed through the epidermis his lycan bloodline burned the foreign invaders into nothingness.
*ssssss*
His arm began to smoke which elicited a curious eyebrow raise in return.
"What was that? Were you trying to take over MY body too? That's not...very nice," Hao Xuan tightened his grip even further almost popping the hunter's eyeballs.
With no other choice the shade wrapped around the hunter even tighter, anchoring itself within his dying flesh to imbue its power into him.
Hao Xuan's eyes widened, making him instinctively loosen his grip when he saw the hunter's skin quite literally turn into obsidian.
He began to harden and crystallize right in front of Hao Xuan, a process that stopped the poor hunter's heart and ultimately took his life.
The hunter and the shade had combined into one being that was stronger than their separate selves.
Hao Xuan couldn't feel any energy coming from it anymore but there was a looming sense of danger in the air. He had no choice but to direct all his attention to the fight.
"Well...that's new," he muttered lightly to which the shade responded in its true voice.
[You are dangerous]
"Hoh, am I?"
[You defied me]
"Don't take it personally. It's just that I'm already at max occupancy, can't take in any more vagrant souls you see."
[You jest. You mock. There is no honour in your actions]
Hao Xuan's jovial expression was slowly replaced by a look of cruel indifference.
"Honour? I am dishonourable because I didn't let you take over my body? Or do you want me to get serious? If that's the case then I'm afraid you have to earn that right."
[Hmph, dishonourable pest! I will show you your limits and then drag you before the mistress!]
Both the shade and Hao Xuan disappeared from their respective spots and then reappeared 5 meters in the air inches away from one another.
Hao Xuan's right punch connected with the shade's left hook creating a shockwave and a sonic boom.
*BOOM*
*BOOOM*
*BOOOOOM*
Punching, kicking, stabbing, slashing, everything the shade did Hao Xuan countered with much the same momentum while using even less force.
They didn't even stop to breathe before exchanging another twenty or so attacks until the force of gravity eventually pulled them back to the ground.
Several nearby structures crumbled due to the raging force generated by these exchanges.
The shade looked at its crystalline hands which were full of cracks while Hao Xuan's fists smoked with barely a blemish.
The shade looked more confused than shocked.
[What- Who are you? Why are you here?]
"Huh? I thought you came here to drag me to your mistress, no?" Hao Xuan chuckled, "Are you that surprised because you couldn't 'teach' me a lesson? Do you really think so highly of yourself?"
