The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1544

Hao Xuan was moved away from the others waiting in line to enter the Upper District and brought to the right side of the teleportation array where all three Profound Realm Experts were.

Two of them were sitting at the table calmly sipping some kind of tea that had white larvae floating at the top while the third one took the envelope from Hao Xuan to examine it.

All three of these experts were in the middle stages of the Profound Realm with the two in the back having the bloodlines of a black horned rhino, and an albino crocodile while the one inspecting the envelope had the bloodline of a white abyssal leopard.

His arms and legs were covered in white spots while his head was completely bestial. Hao Xuan looked him up and down in the meantime, impressed by everything he was seeing.

'Pseudo 7th Stage of the Profound Realm- not bad at all. He's forcefully suppressing his cultivation to stay in the middle stages though, strange. Both his bloodline and cultivation are superior to the other two even though he is the youngest. Must be quite talented.'

"Who gave this to you?" he suddenly asked after closely studying the envelope.

"A woman at the inn," Hao Xuan promptly replied, "She said it was urgent. I will leave it with you if it's not too much trouble since I don't have the authority to enter the Upper District myself."

The leopard demihuman stared into his eyes for a moment before turning to the two behind him.

"Seniors, I will escort this slave and come right back."

The black-horned rhino and croc demihumans briefly paused their chatter to glance at the letter before simultaneously shaking their heads.

"Another one, huh? Fine, but make it quick," the rhino gave his permission without much thought while the croc had a few other words to add.

"Waclaw, don't step into any shit with the royals. We've got a good thing going, don't ruin it!" he warned.

"I understand, senior," Waclaw gave them a respectful bow and personally led Hao Xuan to the teleportation array after returning the envelope to him.

"Keep your hands and feet inside, don't make any sudden movements," he cautioned while the teleportation array began to power up once he tapped on the activation rune.

Their figures turned into white light as the surroundings took a drastic turn for the better.

The turbid and humid air of the commercial district was replaced by a light oxygen-rich sweetness that wafted into his nostrils right as Hao Xuan stabilized his footing.

He stepped out only to be welcomed by vast open farmlands in every direction. From small and large fruit-bearing trees to swathes of flowery grains as far as the eye could see.

Despite it being unbearably hot in the other districts, the temperature here did not exceed from a pleasant 28c to 30c.

Behind the teleportation array was a group of 30 or so warriors all in the profound realm. They were training and lightly sparring with one another but upon seeing Waclaw arrive many of them happily ran over to give their respects.

"Senior brother Waclaw! Long time no see!"

"Did you get transferred over?"

"Can I please request a duel, senior brother!"

All of these warriors were demihuman and within the early stages of the Profound Realm. From their looks and actions they didn't seem to be very old. Perhaps in their teenage years at most although that was difficult to determine because of their therianthropic features.

Waclaw shook his head, "I'm here on official business. Return to your training and report to me once you are ready to break through to the middle stages."

"Booo! Senior brother doesn't play with us anymore!"

"I will totally defeat you next time!"

"What do you mean next time? You lose EVERY time."

"Shut up, what do you know?!"

While they quarreled with one another Waclaw led Hao Xuan to the east, leaving them to their own devices.

"Seem like good kids," Hao Xuan couldn't help but comment.

None of them had thrown him so much as a dirty look even after seeing the mark of a slave on his chest.

"They are," Waclaw agreed wholeheartedly, "Full of hope and promise."

"They have not been outside, have they? To the other districts."

"No, they were raised here since birth. We are only allowed to leave once we reach the middle stages."

"Hmm, that's not a bad thing considering what's happening outside."

"Indeed. But many of them will live and die in the city without ever knowing what's out there. This is their whole world..."

Hao Xuan chuckled, rattling the chains around his neck.

"Just a different kind of restraint. We're all prisoners to something or someone."

Waclaw peered back at Hao Xuan and after a brief moment of deliberation chose to continue the conversation.

"I can sense you were a powerful warrior once. Why do you hide your bloodline? You could live a good life here as a breeder."

Hao Xuan frowned, partly at the fact that he could detect Hao Xuan had a special bloodline and partly at his proposal.

"As a breeder? I'm not sure I understand."

Waclaw pointed to the left at a small house in the middle of some fields not too far away.

"There is a reason Demihumans are so prevalent throughout the abyss. Our children will grow up to be almost as powerful as us if not more. Despite our obvious bloodline limitations, we can procreate more easily so it is easier to raise an army with a more definitive level of strength. That is why those with powerful bloodlines are welcomed here. Your children will be readily accepted and nurtured as the city's guardians."

Hao Xuan let out a dejected laugh, "Haha. Well...that is certainly one way to live your life."
