The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1460

"He kidnapped you?"

The boy shook his head slowly, "I wish, that way I could blame him for all of it."

"He...tricked you?"

"Yes, with half-truths. He told me about the 'Divine Illness' that plagues every offspring of the Gods. After reaching maturity their bloodline blooms and if it is too pure or too strong then the powers consume the individual, destroying them from the inside out."

"That part was true but he deceived me by saying that if I stayed with my mother it would only create more problems for her or even endanger her life...and that he had a way to 'make things right' before it was too late."

"So I abandoned my sickly mother, left her alone to fend for herself in hopes that she would still be around by the time I was done with this quest of mine. It...did not end that way."

Hao Xuan had some mixed feelings about this. On one hand he empathized with him, even relieved that he wasn't the only one fooled by the Emperor.

But on the other hand he would be losing a very important ally.

"So what is your plan?" he wondered, "Just wash your hands of it all and live the rest of your life by her side?"

The boy nodded, "If possible, yes. In this timeline she is doing much better than ours but some things have stayed the same. I know better than anyone how difficult of a request that is, and what that would mean for you."

"Leaving you alone to fend for yourself against the Sorcerer, I would stay if I could. But I also believe that what I offer in return should be enough to compensate for your troubles and turn the tide in your favor."

He abruptly stood up and turned on his heels to face Hao Xuan, extending a hand, "Not only will I give you all of my powers before leaving but if you give me your word, I can share some of them even now. And in moments of great unrest, my council and wisdom will be available to you if you so wish."

Hao Xuan slowly raised his hand but before they could shake the boy clarified his intentions one last time.

"I only told you all this so you could better understand where I am coming from and how much it means to me. Nothing else matters! If I thought the sorcerer was even remotely trustworthy then I would have gone to him instead. But as long as you have the intention of honoring our deal then I will stand with you no matter how long it takes."

This was a no-brainer. Only an idiot would say no.

"Deal," Hao Xuan shook his hand firmly.

'Huh, I can physically interact with him even though he is a part of my own soul.'

The boy gave a satisfied nod, "Would you like to receive the first round of my abilities now?"

"Sure, it isn't too much trouble."

"It's no trouble for me but you might get overwhelmed. Those tens of millions of souls that were sacrificed to make 'us' a reality- they also got divided into three parts. Once I start transferring my powers, more and more of them will begin to flow towards you. You will have to assimilate them into your being one at a time."

But Hao Xuan was more than confident in his abilities, "I understand, go ahead. I can take it."

"Alright, do not say I did not warn you. And my name is Alexander, do not forget it" he stepped back and closed his eyes.

He wasn't talking but Hao Xuan could hear his voice echoing in his head in a way that was unlike any other. It felt like he was talking to himself but not at the same time.

'All children of Zeus have great affinities with the element of lightning but I had some achievements in other elements as well. To be able to receive my legacy you must begin there, strengthening your connection with these elements. Close your eyes.'

Hao Xuan crossed his legs and straightened his back before doing so.

"I am read-"

He didn't even have the chance to finish the sentence before Alexander's figure turned into literal rays of light and shot into his body.

Hao Xuan clenched his teeth as he felt his insides get hotter. Every inch of his body started to itch from the inside out and in the span of a hundred or so seconds, his skin turned into just as many different shades before finally settling down.

He let out a breath of relief, "That wasn't too bad-" but as he opened his eyes he was faced with a wall of ethereal faces flying straight at him.

He didn't- or rather couldn't dodge this one. The clothes exploded off his body as Hao Xuan slammed against the back wall and lost consciousness.

"WAKE UP! New guy, WAKE UP!" Hao Xuan awoke to the incessant banging at the door of his room.
