The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1489

Hao Xuan's hearts were in his throat as he tried to get a sense of where he had been transported to.

A gigantic blue dome covered this entire area for hundreds of miles around. About 80 people were standing around the lake weapons at the ready, their shocked gazes focused on Hao Xuan's figure.

Only the silver-haired man who was holding the 'Ancestral Blade' was angry and aware of what was going on.

And it was definitely his voice that Hao Xuan had heard before which he recognized when the man inquired from afar.

"Name yourself, child," he demanded in a heavy voice.

Hao Xuan was obviously not in a position to negotiate but he didn't want to lower himself from the get-go so, "Shouldn't you start by introducing yourself first before asking for my name?" he shouted back, matching his energy.

Unexpectedly, the man did not get angry by that statement and even gave out his name first.

"I am called Viserryan!" he nonchalantly replied but Hao Xuan's eyes almost popped out of their sockets, no matter how much he tried to hide it.

'A dragon?!'

The dragon kind were quite peculiar about their names and if one was well-versed in their culture, it was easy to infer the rough meaning of the name since they never tried to hide anything in the first place.

Everything from their places of birth to their laws and powers could be gleaned from just the name alone, that's how confident they were in their abilities.

Hao Xuan took in a deep breath before responding with the alias, "Jin."

Viserryan nodded once, "Then, child Jin, why are you trying to end my bloodline?"

That revelation sent shockwaves amongst the crowd gathered on the lake shore, making them confer with one another.

"End the Lord's bloodline?!"

"Surely this cannot be a coincidence! To happen at this time and place?"

"THE DEMON!" someone finally yelled out, "He must be the demon pawn! That is the only explanation!"

An old man with a long white beard standing next to Viserryan spoke up in a feeble voice, "My lord...it makes sense. How else could he stand atop the demon's form without getting corrupted?" he said pointing at Hao Xuan's feet.

Hao Xuan looked down at the 'rock' he was standing on and only now saw what it was connected to.

It was a creature curled up in a ball and the part he was standing on was just a piece of its elongated spine jetting out of the water.

It was more than a hundred meters long even in this form, slumbering and sealed within the clear blue liquid but not dead.

'Demon? I have never heard of a demon like this before...' he thought.

A demon's true form was quite iconic. And the larger it was the more powerful it would be, meaning it would be quite infamous.

Even though it was difficult to tell what it would look like, there would still be some remnant demonic energy floating around at the very least, which he was quite sensitive to.

But he could feel none of that here. Perhaps that could be because of this unique seal in which case things started to make a little more sense.

'Is this the ancestral land of the Shin clan? Did they have a demon sealed in here? It looks like they were in the process of reapplying the seal to keep it contained. Then...that must be the current clan head. I can't believe he is a dragon!' he thought looking at Viserryan's human form.

'I can't blame them for thinking this was the demon's doing but it's just a coincidence, I have to explain myself before it's too late. They are not attacking because it might affect the sealing process and wake the demon up but that won't keep them back forever.'

And despite his followers shouting that Hao Xuan was a demon pawn, Viserryan didn't seem all that convinced.

His gaze was focused on Hao Xuan as he looked him up and down.

"Is that true? Are you a demon pawn?" he went straight to the point.

Hao Xuan shook his head, "I am not. In fact, I was sent here to stop a demon army from invading the abyss."

"He speaks the truth," Viserryan quickly added, to everyone's disbelief.

Hao Xuan's brow furrowed, 'Can he tell when someone is telling the truth? It must be a special ability of his. This is good, I can use it!'

He continued, "Your son was losing control of his powers after integrating with the Ancestral Blade. I was forced to take action because it would bring far too much heat on me-"

But before he could even finish the elder beside Lord Viserryan screamed, "LIES! The demonling is trying to trick you master!"

"I AM NOT!" Hao Xuan roared back in full force.

"Hmph! Stupid demon worshippers, can't even come up with sensible lies. The Lord has no sons!" he pointed at Viserryan's right hand, "And even if he did, how could he still be in possession of the Ancestral Blade if another had merged with it?! He is trying to trick you with some foul demon magics! You mustn't trust his words Lord Viserryan!"

'!!!'
