The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1488
It almost sounded a little too good to be true and Hao Xuan couldn't help but comment on the peculiarity of the situation.
"Looks like we came across the protagonist of one of those novels huh," he said amusingly, "A boy betrayed by his loved ones, on the verge of death manages to integrate an all-powerful artifact with himself to survive. Something tells me he would have been fine even if I didn't intervene."
Hao Xuan took one last look at the surroundings to make sure he didn't miss anything before getting ready to leave.
"Someone should come find him soon enough. There is no reason for me to stick around anymore, let's go. I can sense a few people not too far away."
But Ryuk circled Nae Shin's body a couple more times, still mesmerized by the phenomenon.
"The disturbance is getting stronger with every passing second. This boy must have a great fate!" he exclaimed.
Hao Xuan looked back at the slumbering silver-haired teenager, he looked quite peaceful sleeping out in the open.
"I'm sure he does, especially since he has no one who will fight him for the seat of the Shin clan anymore."
"No no, beyond that! Don't you feel it?!" Ryuk said animatedly, getting restless for some reason.
"What? What're you talking about?" Hao Xuan's brow began to furrow.
"Come closer, you will feel it too! It feels not different from when you jumped into the river!"
Hao Xuan couldn't control his voice, shouting, "WHAT?! How??" while walking back to him.
And just as Ryuk had said, when he got within 5 meters of Nae Shin there was a pulse of powerful energy that made his heart feel 'tight' and restricted.
Hao Xuan placed his hand over his chest to get a better sense of the restrictive feeling which even began to spread upwards.
'Time! It's pure time energy!' he exclaimed inwardly.
It was thick enough to even breathe some life back into the ability he had gotten from the Puer, the dried-up flower pattern inked onto his brain.
He threw Ryuk a glare, "How is this possible? Did you do something to him?! He was fine a moment ago!"
"No of course not! What could I possibly do?? I am but an observer but- this is- I don't understand how..."
He was just as flustered as Hao Xuan until he remembered a vital piece of information.
"Oh no! The hunters!" Ryuk exclaimed, "They will be able to come down here by following this disturbance! You must stop the boy- KILL HIM before it's too late!"
"Kill him??" Hao Xuan was more than a little suspicious, "Is that really necessary? Wouldn't it be better if I just moved away from here?"
"NO! I can only hide your presence when the hunters are not on the same plane of existence as us! But they will surely come to investigate the boy and when they do, both of us will be discovered!"
Hao Xuan didn't want to do it, especially since Nae Shin had done nothing to him. But if one had to go no matter what then...his own mission was far more important.
"Fucking hell, alright. I'm sorry kid," he mumbled while picking up a sword lying nearby.
He didn't give it too much thought and naturally got into the same stance he had glimpsed from Tae Shin's devoured memories since it was so fresh.
He raised the sword overhead, using almost half his strength to make sure it ended in one swing.
Ryuk was hardly able to contain himself from the sidelines, shouting at the top of his lungs, "DO IT NOW! ITS GETTING STRONGER!"
Even Hao Xuan could feel the disturbance as clear as day now. It was manifesting around Nae Shin in the shape of a golden aura leaking from the river of time.
He couldn't hesitate any longer, "HAH!"
He brought the sword down over Nae Shin's neck. It came fast and without any warning but before it could pierce his skin, time itself began to slow down around them.
Hao Xuan's eyes widened because not only did the time slow and eventually stop, but it also began to reverse. His sword began to move backwards, getting pushed back by an invisible blade.
'Who dares...' a weak voice echoed in his ears.
At first it sounded curious but then it turned wrathful.
'WHO DARES HARM MY DESCENDENT?!' the voice furiously roared.
A hand reached out of the golden energy and grabbed a hold of his wrist, pulling Hao Xuan inside.
He couldn't do anything, his body was still slowed down along with everything else around him. The power that was behind this ability was not something he could handle without thorough preparation.
The scene changed in an instant as Hao Xuan regained control of his body, gliding through the air to land on a rock jetting out of a vibrant blue lake.
The lake was surrounded by dozens of powerful men and women but the one that got his attention- nay, DEMANDED his attention was a man in his thirties standing opposite to him on the shore.
He had long silver hair coming down to his hips and held a silver sword, a sword Hao Xuan had seen not too long ago.
'The Ancestral Blade?!'
