The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1511

"What did you do?!" Hao Xuan yelled at the empty room, "Are you really that immature?? So much for a fucking demigod, huh? Living up to your father's name I see, just wanting people to suffer for no reaso-"

He was halfway through the rant when the relevant information came to him like a prophecy.

"Oh...a meditation scar? Is that even a thing?"

Despite waves of pain shooting out from the scar Hao Xuan sat down to inspect it closely. He could feel a tingling sensation all around the scar as new nerve clusters took root.

"Hmm, the concept makes sense," he mumbled thoughtfully, "Extreme emotions are more apparent behind the veil. You cause yourself pain and use it to cross over to the other side with ease. If something happens, simply releasing the pressure from the scar will greatly weaken the connection allowing the soul or the mind to return."

"So it's like a button? Press and ride the waves of pain behind the veil, release to come back. And it will heal by itself in the next few months- that's good. Sounds like something a religious nut would come up with but...still, you COULD HAVE WARNED ME!"

Hao Xuan waited for a snarky comeback but none came.

'Did I piss him off too much? Hmph, should have been less of a drama queen then, whatever. This will make things much easier. Let's see if I can-'

The scar was still new and quite raw so Hao Xuan was extra careful as he gently brushed it with his thumb, trying to make out the design without looking.

It sent all manner of new and strange sensations throughout his body. One second he felt like someone was rubbing an ice cube directly up his spine and the next it was a prickling numbness emanating from his internal organs.

Hao Xuan closed his eyes and focused his mind, slowly shutting off all his senses until he was in a complete void.

He continued to increase the pressure on the meditation scar until the pain became almost too much to handle. It was at this point that a faint light appeared in the distance.

'Is that where the pain is going?'

He went towards it and as he got close its true appearance came into view. It was a small upside-down flower with white petals. The light was coming from its stem.

Hao Xuan frowned upon identifying the flower, 'Angel's Trumpet? Here? Is it...absorbing my pain?'

As he reached out the flower reacted, trying to retreat deeper into the void. Its outline began to blur.

'Wait, don't go! I mean you no harm!'

Worried that a rare opportunity might be lost he threw caution to the wind and grabbed it.

*SHOOOOOOO*

His consciousness was dragged along as the flower returned to the other side. Hao Xuan felt like he was watching the big bang take place in person as all manner of lights and colors exploded all around him.

These fireworks lasted for either a second or a lifetime before he found footing under his feet. The flower's appearance changed to a three-meter tall plant creature with vines and roots for arms and legs.

He quickly loosened his grip, allowing it to disappear altogether. He stepped back and ran into something solid behind him.

'Woah...' x2

His thoughts echoed twice as Hao Xuan gazed upon the wonderous scenes.

The object he had hit was the bed where his physical form was sitting. He could see its rough outline but not himself.

When he looked up there was no ceiling, just a cascading river of purple and orange liquid encompassing all of creation. The walls were still there but they were only a few inches tall.

He stepped over them and went outside into the hallway.

*Shhhhhh*

A sudden burst of rainfall doused him. It felt more like someone had turned a bucket over his head but there was nothing above him either way.

'Where did that come from??' he wondered.

The hallway was made of an actual road that seemed to be abandoned guessing from its terrible condition.

Hao Xuan looked to the left and the right but couldn't find any of the surrounding rooms or, in fact, any other structures at all. It was just a vast wasteland, rocks and stones as far as the eye could see.

'Huh...that's disappointing. Where do I go from here?'

He wanted to start walking in a direction but with no observable points of interest in sight and the overbearing heat, it seemed like a bad idea.

'Why is it hot even on this side??' he grumbled before returning to the room.

He sat down on the bed and started looking around.

'Now....what do I do? Is this place really a dead end or am I missing something?' he contemplated as boredom quickly set in.

'This is actual bullshit! I thought the veil was supposed to be a doorway to wonderous places created from our dreams and nightmares. What the fuck is this bare-ass desert?'
