The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1625

Things were finally starting to settle down for the Djinn after Hao Xuan's impromptu visit when it began.

Their entire plane of existence rattled back and forth as the space began to fold in on itself.

Loud bells rang through the village alerting the Djinn of the danger- as if the blinding rays of starlight seeping through the cracks in space weren't enough of a sign that something had gone wrong.

They gathered around Elder Khadim whose gaze was fixated on the largest of the fissures, which happened to be in the same spot Hao Xuan was standing in earlier.

"Great Father!" the same youngster bellowed from the top of the obelisk, "We can open the doorway on your command!"

But his words fell on deaf ears because Elder Khadim was entranced by the fissure.

Another set of intense shockwaves ravaged the plane around them, toppling mountains and ripping out chunks of land that were evaporated by the rampant energies.

Thousands of defensive charms placed around the periphery of the village came to life. They exploded one after the other like firecrackers.

The youngster lept from the obelisk and landed a hundred meters away on the ground with a single stride.

He turned to the spellcasters, "Reinforce the defense line while we prepare!"

The mostly female spellcasters flew into action without missing a beat, flying above the village to cast various defensive spells.

"Rest of you to the obelisk! Children go first, we will-" he tried giving some orders but Elder Khadim interjected.

"Belay that!"

All of them froze on the spot. Despite the world turning upside down in every direction they were not panicking- well, no one apart from the youngster.

He ran up to the elder in a hurry, "Great Father, what do you see??"

Elder Khadim was still staring into the fissure, almost transfixed by whatever was on the other side.

"An opportunity," he whispered.

The youngster was at first confused which then quickly evolved into hesitation once he realized what the elder meant.

"In...there?"

The elder nodded.

His eyes narrowed as a smile blossomed across his aged face, "Let this be the final test of your faith, child."

"But elder-"

Before he could say anything Elder Khadim's figure was set alight with a raging scarlet flame that covered the entire village but harmed no one. A small portion of its concentrated essence surrounded him before exploding towards the fissure in a fiery blaze.

The next moment he was gone, leaving behind a trail of dwindling flames leading up to the fissure.

The youngster was not strong enough to peer across the fissure so he, like all the rest, would have to go in blind. They gathered around him now, looking to him for leadership.

"I-I don't know..." he muttered weakly.

The handful of remaining elders who were capable of moving on their own came up to the youngster and patted him on the back. They gave no words of advice or affirmation before going after Elder Khadim.

They had already lived long lives so they could not speak to the matters of the younger generation, especially ones that would were so vital and long-lasting.

The youngster understood, "A choice to be made."

He looked to the obelisk that was lined with countless runes primed and ready to take them to another realm far away. And then he glanced at the fissure which was brimming with chaotic energies, opening and closing like the jaw of a void beast beckoning them to their dooms.

One of the children grabbed his hand, "We go?" he asked while pointing at the fissure without any shred of a doubt.

The youngster nodded, "Summon the guardians!"

They reached into their robes and pulled out various handcrafted whistles. A high-pitched song resonated through the village bringing the obelisk down on itself.

Flying beasts of all kinds shot into the air from its remains. They circled the village before swooping down to pick up one or two Djinns each and diving into the fissure.

The youngster picked up two of the children before jumping onto one of the beasts. It cried happily while diving inside.

The dazzling starlight blinded them for a moment before giving way to a new scene.

They were flying through the air over a lush green forest. There was not a shred of darkness anywhere in sight, unlike the plane they had just come from.

The Elders were waiting for them not too far away on a raised scrap of land. The guardian beast threw the youngster and the children down before happily flying into the air.

It flew fast and high, taking full advantage of this new realm.

But the younger Djinns were stupefied by the scenery. They had only heard about such vitality in myths and legends of old and what guarded it.

The youngster quickly made his way to Elder Khadim, "Great father! This place- we must leave before its God returns!"
