The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1578

Despite Isra's many misgivings about the plan she could not stop Lady Yuki from embarking onto the tumultuous city streets by herself.

But it was a fact that a rare few souls knew what she actually looked like since most of the time she did not leave the castle or its immediate surroundings.

Her real self was her best disguise, something not many royals could say about themselves.

Isra watched from the window as Lady Yuki made her way to the teleportation array in the back. With a defeated sigh she walked up to the mirror and began inscribing runes on its borders.

The mirror's surface came alive once she was done and after a few seconds of continuous ripples an image appeared.

It was Waclaw. (Ch 1544)

He was already down on one knee with his head lowered, "Your servant answers."

"Relax boy, it's me," Isra said while rolling her eyes.

Waclaw slowly looked up in a mixture of surprise and curiousness.

"Mistress Isra, is everything alright?"

"Yes-er, no. The lady is coming down."

Waclaw's eyes widened and he jumped to his feet at once.

"I will prepare an escort and wake the seniors!" he said while turning away but the old maid's shout stopped him dead in his tracks.

"NO! No one can know she is down there!" she stressed, "You will shadow her from a distance and make sure nothing happens. If and ONLY if things get out of hand will you alert the others, understand?"

Waclaw took a couple of seconds to digest everything before nodding once.

"This servant understands. I will not let anything happen to the lady!"

Isra quickly closed the connection to let him get to work.

Waclaw headed to the teleportation array to check where the last used entry point was before running to the location.

'As the rightful ruler of the city, she is able to freely teleport to any location within the city. I must hurry.'

It was already late into the night and most workers and slaves had gone down to rest. The few that stayed were either enjoying themselves and letting loose, or looking for ways to take advantage of the ones who were.

Waclaw arrived at the indicated area just a few seconds later. It was on the western corner of the commercial district, between the Slave quarters and the abandoned Beast market to the south.

He was a Profound Realm expert so covering a few hundred meters was nothing to him but even with such speed he was a little too late since she was nowhere in sight.

Waclaw jumped from one roof to another in search of her but she was nowhere in sight. He then closed his eyes to focus on the sense of smell.

The various scents turned into visual stimuli each marked by a different color. Most ranged from blue and red to shades of purple but there was one that was pitch black, darker than anything around it. It was cutting across all other scents.

"There!" he exclaimed while following after it.

He was used to it now but Waclaw had also found it quite odd at first. The color black usually represented ill omens in his experience but Lady Yuki's scent never felt that way.

Hers had a regal splendor about it that was dignified and somber at its core. It was purity at its finest and he had never come across another like hers, ever!

Waclaw was looking in the direction of the commercial district but the scent was leading him to the slave quarters.

The slave quarters were much dirtier, full of filth and the unmistakable stench of despair. He only had to move a few dozen meters in before hearing a weak voice murmuring, "Thank you, thank you so much."

'Hmm?'

It was coming from the street over so he moved to the other side of the rooftops to peer down.

'There she is!'

She was wearing a dark grey hood that hid her form but he could easily tell it was her. She was talking to some woman, a slave.

"Make sure to get it checked tomorrow. There will be healers coming down," Lady Yuki informed her while placing two gold coins in the palm of her hand.

The slave kowtowed on the grimy street, "I will never forget your kindness."

"Rest now, it's okay."

She finished with that particular slave before moving on to the next. Most of them were already knocked out from working all day so she quietly placed two gold coins in each of their chambers before moving to the next one.

This went on for nearly half an hour before she finally ran out of gold to give away. Only then did she leave the slave quarters to venture towards the other sections.

Waclaw quietly followed her from a safe distance as she slowly made her way to the eastern side, cutting across most of the commercial district without stopping for anything.

Of course, a few shady characters tried to stop or get in her way, how could they not after seeing a lone woman walking about by herself. But none of them came within 10 feet of her before Waclaw swooped in and knocked them out.
