The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1616

The otherwise sleepy rear garden of the castle suddenly sprung into life as Princess Hwa appeared in a flash of blue light.

There was only one guard on duty not too far away and he only threw a cursory glance in her direction before closing his eyes.

Princess Hwa walked inside, hands respectfully clasped in front of her waist as she passed by some servants who immediately distanced themselves from her, bowing their heads from afar.

She strode over to the main hall which was brimming with the sounds of life. Music, dancing, people laughing and chatting away as the feast continued.

She peeked in through the window like a mouse while talking to herself.

"Looks fun," her eyes jumped from person to person- from couple to couple in envy, "I don't see Yuki Unni or Xuegang Oppa..."

"They could not make it," a voice replied from the back.

Princess Hwa didn't even need to see who it was, nor was she surprised by its presence.

"Yuki Unni is so lucky to have someone like you watching her back, Lady Isra."

The headmaid couldn't contain her smile, "As am I to serve her. Should I ask the servants to prepare you for the ball?"

She slowly shook her head, "Why would I ruin the mood like that? Let them have fun without worrying about running into the cursed daughter of the Song Clan."

The headmaid sighed heavily, "The cure for ignorance is rather simple, princess. If you just explained to them-"

"They wouldn't believe it, trust me I have tried. And why would they risk it anyway?"

"A peerless beauty such as the Princess- any number of youngsters would be willing if you gave them the chance."

Princess Hwa laughed at the very idea.

"Haha, yes I am sure! And if I didn't know any better then perhaps I could deceive myself into thinking it was real but...true love is not so easy to come by."

"True love...such things only exist in fairytales these days. Those in your station are guided by a higher purpose-"

Irritated, Princess Hwa couldn't help but yell, "I don't WANT a higher purpose! I just want... never mind..."

She gave up without even trying and walked up a spiral staircase that was situated to the left.

"I will be in my room...not that anyone ever asks..."

Headmaid Isra shook her head before returning to her many duties while Princess Hwa returned to her room.

It was across from Princess Yi's but was less than half the size, though it was still larger than most houses located on the lower floors.

As Princess Hwa entered her gaze fell upon a figure sitting by the window and softening her expression immediately.

"Amma!" she called out and the floating chair that person was sitting on slowly shifted towards the door.

It was an old woman in her late eighties from the looks of it. Countless wrinkles adorned her aged face, a proof of a life well lived.

The only thing that stood out was her mouth- which was stitched shut. Her lips were sewn together by a black thread that wriggled by itself as if it was alive.

She smiled at the princess and the princess flashed a toothy grin back.

Princess Hwa hopped and skipped over to her side and knelt to place her hands on the old woman's knees.

"You won't believe what happened today!"

The old woman eyed her suspiciously before extending a hand towards her. She gently cupped her face like a newborn.

[What happened?] a voice sounded within Princess Hwa's mind.

"I met him!"

[Him?]

"Yes, HIM him. You know? The 'chosen one' mother always talks about- I met him!"

The old lady's eyes widened and all color washed from her face, [You met the boy?! When?? Where?! You mustn't let Song Yi find out, she will think you are trying to take what is hers. Let her deal with that whole mess]

"Hahahaha!" Princess Hwa burst out laughing, "No, not him silly! The REAL one!"

The old lady seemed confused, [Did you hit your head again? Show me]

She tried to look for a bump on the princess's head but she tightly grasped her hands, "No amma, you don't understand. I met the real chosen one, the one they talk about in the prophecies!"

She jokingly slapped her forehead, [What gibberish is this girl speaking now? She must be delirious from hunger, let me-]

The old lady's chair hovered away but the next sentence from Princess Hwa stopped her in her tracks.

"I touched him and saw it for myself, amma. He comes from another world, from another TIME! Can you believe that? He was sent to us from the future to stop something very bad from happening. He is the one amma, I saw it- well, some of it," she began pacing back and forth in her excitement.

"There was so much that it was a little confusing at first but it made sense later- he is even immune to my curse! How AMAZING is that?!"
