The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1467
Luz decided to take his leave when the 'sun' began to set. He had already shown Hao Xuan every place of importance so there really wasn't much else to do. Plus-
"It is big day today, friend Jin! Lady Yukio is throwing party for all patrons on her estate, it is hugest party ever!" he told him excitedly at the last second.
"Have fun then, and don't do anything stupid!"
He waved goodbye just before Luz ducked into a small crack and vanished without a trace, leaving Hao Xuan to fend for himself.
The night came quickly, bringing with it a cold that would take anyone by surprise.
He shuddered while rubbing his arms, 'I should probably get some clothes that fit me...and maybe even a shave if it's not too much.'
The streets were a lot less crowded than before. Perhaps it was because of the loud party that could be heard all the way down here or maybe something else, but most of the shops remained open regardless.
But after browsing through the markets for over an hour he only found one shop that was willing to deal with slaves. Every other place either didn't open their doors pretending he didn't exist, or had guards lead him away.
He didn't mind though, it was nothing personal. That was just how this world was.
Hao Xuan walked down the old rundown stairs that led into the basement of the tailor shop. The shop was located below a weapon dealer so there was a fair bit of foot traffic.
"Welcome. Have a seat and I will be with you soon," a demihuman man in his late fifties spoke up when he heard the bell ring.
There were only three chairs and two of them were occupied. He took the last one and directed his gaze at the tailor.
The man had four arms and six purple eyes darting everywhere. His head was bigger than an average person but the rest was normal. He hummed to himself while working, work which was nothing less than a talent show at this point.
He could move each arm independently, doing four completely different tasks at the same time without any problems.
And apart from the occasional rip and tear of fabric, it was pleasantly quiet. Quiet enough for him to actually relax for the first time in a long while and let his mind wander.
'What a long day...'
There was a lot to see and to do but at least now he had a rough idea of where to begin.
Hao Xuan let out a deep sigh and glanced at the other two customers out of curiosity. One of them was snoring loudly with his head hidden under a large hat, while the other one had his nose in a book- both oblivious to his presence.
The slumbering man was hugging a large wooden box almost as tall as himself and a tad bit thinner. He then peeked at the man reading the book which jogged his memory.
'Right, the amulet!' he remembered the wheel-shaped accessory hanging from his neck, just underneath the iron collar scraping against his skin. (CH 1414)
It was so light that oftentimes he forgot it existed.
When he jumped into the river of time only three of its ten spots were occupied but now, that number had gone up to four.
'What's this fourth one?' he frowned, 'Must be the sorcerer's doing, I will check it later. Could be something dangerous, or even a trap.'
The most important one was the third spot that held the book Lord Yami had given him. It had belonged to his mentor, the person who had found him within the abyss and brought him to the Sanctum.
Having the detailed accounts of a seasoned abyss traveler was almost priceless, especially for him.
Hao Xuan held the amulet in his hand and coughed, pretending to take it out from somewhere in his shirt.
The little black book materialized in his hand without any trouble and no one else cared enough to even look.
Hao Xuan opened it up and flipped over to the first page. It mentioned a race of beings that was a mix of some ancient bloodlines (Ch 1423). It basically defined Ogostin down to a T.
'?!'
'And I just happened to meet one of his kind after waking back here? That can not be a coincidence!'
He quickly flipped over to the second page which detailed several different items. Most of them he did not know about but one thing caught his eye.
'Slaves are third-class citizens in the abyss, less than wild beasts in most cases. Only a select few shops will be willing to do business with them, and they can be identified by a white slash on the upper right corner of their signboard.
Hao Xuan immediately jumped to his feet and ran outside to look at the signboard of the tailor shop. And lo and behold- a barely discernable white mark in the upper right corner marked the signboard.
