The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1598
"-Least of all without any adequate training."
Vlitgar's fist tightened as he came to the only logical conclusion in his mind.
"It must be a demonkin! For it to be able to mimic the mark of the Father and dupe even me- it must be a high-ranking True Demon!"
A string of raw chaotic energy emerged from his ears and began to surround his upper body. It circled his arms before digging into the leather armor where it congregated to create low-pitched thundering sounds.
It sounded like firecrackers were going off under his skin creating incessant pops and crackles.
Determined to end it in one blow, he stormed out of the Attainment Chamber with the future already concluded in his mind no matter the cost.
But when he came out of the chamber Hao Xuan was nowhere in sight. The boisterous crowd was still there, drinking and being merry in what little ways they could be.
Going up to the merman behind the bar, Vlitgar slid the white porcelain bottle (CH 1589) across the counter while surveying the surroundings.
"Pour this into the wine bottle I asked for."
The merman swiftly reached under the counter and pulled out an old black bottle. It was made out of black clay rather than glass with some smudged writing on the side.
He picked up the small porcelain bottle and placed it on top of the closed wine bottle. One of its tentacles wrapped around the bottles, connecting them, and started convulsing.
"I have not done this in a long time, it will take a few minutes," he told Vlitgar as the porcelain bottle started to become lighter and lighter by the second.
"I am in no hurry," Vlitgar replied without looking at him.
As long as he stood at the bar no other creature was foolish or brave enough to approach them so for the first time in a long time the merman had nothing else to do.
He tried to strike up a conversation to make the atmosphere a little less tense.
"Must be a special guest," the merman commented.
Vlitgar finally turned towards him with a raised brow and an annoyed look, "What?!"
"I-I was just saying it must be a special guest- the person this wine is for! Not many people ask me to transmute liquids for recreation these days! Ha-haha..."
Vlitgar glanced at the wine bottle and sighed inwardly, "That remains to be seen," he muttered in a low voice before changing the topic, "Did you see where the human boy went after exiting the chamber?"
The merman looked over his shoulder at the door, "No one else came out. You are the first one."
Vlitgar immediately stood at attention, "What?! The human who went in with me- he did not come out at all?!"
The merman bobbed his octopus head up and down in a fury, "I would not lie to you sire! I would bet my life on it!"
Vlitgar turned on his heels to march right back into the chamber to inspect the door. But as he passed the threshold of the attainment chamber something caught his senses.
There was a heaviness, an imperceptible weight upon his shoulder when he stood on that spot. And when he extended a hand it was met with a muted resistance and a subtle echo that could not be unheard.
'The veil...she screams...'
When he focused his senses and listened, TRULY listened, countless voices full of anguish and long-forgotten dread could be heard reaching out from the other side.
His face twisted from the burning sensation it left on his spiritual senses and his soul even, but it was one he vaguely recognized.
'!!!'
'That is a hindering spell!'
He quickly stepped aside and began muttering a chant under his breath while walking around that spot in an anti-clockwise manner.
The screaming became louder and louder to the point of drawing the attention of several of the other patrons. But when they saw Vlitgar standing there all they could do was watch from afar.
The cries were strong enough to physically manifest and twist into wisps of orange flames that could be observed even with the naked eye, sputtering endlessly around an invisible silhouette.
Vlitgar increased the volume of the chanting as he circled around the side of the doorway and into the chamber where he suddenly thrust his arm into the flames. He grabbed hold of the first solid thing that came into contact with him and pulled back.
The flames erupted into an explosion of rampaging energies but from the midst came another figure.

A few minutes ago when Vlitgar handed Hao Xuan the fist-sized rock and asked him to leave the chamber his first thought was how odd it was that there was no information regarding such esoteric arts in his memories.
'The Emperor made a point of imbuing all manner of knowledge into my soul when he merged us. There should be SOME mention of-'
