The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1595
"The prayers?" Hao Xuan frowned, "Where do the prayers come in?"
With a deep sigh, Vlitgar shook his head in obvious displeasure and started drawing on the mirror with his finger.
"These things, your mentor should have thought them to you brother. It is a great injustice!"
"....Yes...it is..."
He sketched a VERY rough drawing which consisted of four squares.
He pointed at the first square, "This is a golem or a statue placed somewhere in the world outside, likely in a shrine dedicated to Sanctum."
"Those who believe in the Old Gods can go to these shrines to offer their prayers or ask for aid. A shrine can have one or many 'protectors' that have a liquid metal base sealed inside of them. Once blessed by the prayers, these metals act as a doorway to the mirror world for the Ethyma to take charge."
Then he drew a circle over the 1st square and the 2nd.
"The Golem and the liquid metal base together form the outer shell that can be anywhere in the outside world. Every time a devout servant begs for aid at the shrine, their prayers can be heard by the Ethyma and passed on to a mark bearer."
He drew a second circle over the 3rd and 4th squares.
"This is the Ethyma and the Mark Bearer. Together they create the core of the golem which allows it to come to life. Do you understand?"
Hao Xuan nodded, it wasn't as complicated as he was making it out to be.
"So, a mortal prays at a shrine and the shrine takes a portion of their prayers to give energy to a guardian statue. We can use the Ethyma to control this statute and lend aid in times of need."
"Precisely!" Vlitgar smacked the mirror in his excitement making it shake loudly.
Hao Xuan shook his head internally, 'Why the hell did I need to know any of this? Just tell me what to do instead of explaining the mechanics!'
But he couldn't very well say that out loud so Hao Xuan nodded along.
"I understand now, thank you brother."
Vlitgar gestured for him to come up and try it himself.
"To merge with the Ethyma you will have to make it submit to your will, make it respect and obey the mark so your combat prowess goes up in battle!"
But Hao Xuan waved his hands, "I will attempt this later brother, you have my word. Right now I need your help quite urgently with a few things."
Not detecting any sign of deceit in Hao Xuan's words, Vlitgar had no reason to deny him this opportunity.
"What is that you need, brother?"
"Information, for the most part. Firstly, do you know of a way to move physical objects from the material realm to the immaterial?"
Vlitgar didn't even have to think about it because the answer was already at the tip of his tongue.
"Of course! The concept behind it is the same as any other esoteric art, only more complex."
Hao Xuan's brow rose along with his interest.
"Esoteric Arts? Psychometry, divination, augury, and the like?"
"Haha, those are indeed ancient esoteric arts but they are far too advanced for a beginner. You must start with telekinesis, yes? Move faraway objects with your mind."
"How??"
There were many ways to move faraway objects without touching them but they all required spiritual energy in some shape or form.
With a potent enough internal energy one could manipulate objects outside of one's body by solidifying energy, albeit to a very small degree. It only allowed for simple pulling and pushing movements with little to no control over the speed.
Hao Xuan had used such methods many times before, sometimes even without spiritual energy if the connection to the object was strong enough like with a weapon. But he had never used pure telekinesis before.
'Think and make it happen?'
It still sounded like magic.
Vlitgar clapped his hands twice to change the interior of the Attainment Chamber.
Now they were standing in a small dirt fighting pit with three dummies on one side and a pile of rocks on the other.
Vlitgar noticed the questioning look on Hao Xuan's face so he explained.
"This is one of the many uses of the Attainment Chamber. It reads your thoughts and desires to provide you with the tools required to accomplish your goals. There is limits to what it can give but for the basic needs there should be no problems."
Hao Xuan was amazed.
'That explains the water barrel earlier and what he was saying about it. Wait-'
"Do you have to pay to use the room?"
"Of course, nothing in this world or the next is free, brother. But it is cheap, only costs 1,000 gold every hour."
"Haha...yeah...cheap..."
Without wasting any more time, Vlitgar gestured towards the rock pile in the back of the pit.
"You are to move all those here."
