The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1615
"Uh...magic?"
"What happened to always telling the truth?"
Princess Hwa averted her gaze, "You don't want to know, oppa."
"I would not have asked if I didn't," Hao Xuan continued to press for answers, "But if you don't want to tell me that's a different thing. I guess our deal ends here, huh?"
"No!" she squirmed and jumped out of his arms, "You can't, you promised!"
She became so anxious by his little empty threat that Hao Xuan almost felt bad for her.
"So did you."
"But...if I tell you, you will be mad."
"No I won't. As long as it's the truth I won't care-"
"Yes you will!" she yelled out of frustration, stomping her feet in indignation.
"You were mad the last time, and you will be again if I tell you now, so it can't be now!"
Hao Xuan's eyes narrowed, 'Last time?'
"Then when?"
She could feel Hao Xuan pulling away so she told him what little she could.
"S-Soon, I promise. Please? I need this, it's been so long since I talked to someone openly. You're the only one who treats me normally and if I tell you...that will change. Just give me a little more time oppa," she pleaded, "Just until I figure things out."
After a brief moment of deliberation Hao Xuan agreed.
"Fine, but soon means soon."
"Yes! Thank you!"
She gave him a quick hug and skipped around the corner, "I can go from here by myself!"
"Wait! If you need to find me I'll be-"
"I know!" her voice carried over the wind, "Next time you have to buy me a new dress okay? So earn plenty of gold!"
"Like hell! Have you lost your mind, punk?! You already cleaned me out!"
"No one said girlfriends were cheap!"
"I'm not looking for one! You hear!"
Giggling to herself Princess Hwa merrily skipped all the way to the end of the street where she came to a stop.
"Hmmm mhmmmm~"
She reached to her side and pulled out a pair of long mittens from a pouch. They were the same color as her dress but made from a much stronger material with some powerful magical runes stitched into the exterior.
She slowly put them on while humming a tune but by the end of it she seemed like a completely different person.
Her cheery attitude was suddenly replaced by a cold, stern look of indifference as she turned the final corner and entered the plaza where the teleportation array was.
The demihuman guards were on alert and when they saw a person walk out they all raised their weapons.
"Halt! Who goes there?"
Princess Hwa approached them without saying a word. One of the guards with an equine head, the youngest of the bunch with something to prove stepped forward with his spear pointed at her.
"Identify yourself! The array is closed until further notic-"
But a massive hand pulled him up by the collar and placed him to the side like a toy.
"Princess, welcome back," said the Black-horned Rhino demihuman. (Ch1544)
She didn't look at him but simply nodded in his direction.
"Charge the teleportation array!" he shouted, "Make way for the princess! Step aside!"
The guards quickly divided into two columns along each side and stood at attention.
Stonefaced, Princess Hwa glided past them without much thought, not even paying attention to the surroundings when she lost her balance on an uneven section.
The guard with the equine bloodline raced forth to lend a helping hand in the hopes of correcting his previous mistake but the moment he touched her Princess Hwa cringed.
"Hngh!"
It sounded like she was in pain for a moment but her wrathful glare said otherwise.
"You! What have you done!" she hissed.
The guard swiftly retracted his hands, "M-My apologies princess, I was only trying to help-"
The Rhino Demihuman once again intervened, throwing the guard back.
"He will be dealt with, princess."
She gave a tentative sigh and strode onto the array without wasting any more breath. The magical runes took her away while the plaza exploded in commotion.
"Quiet down!" the rhino demihuman roared with a heavy stomp, "Charge it again, there is another one going out!"
The other guards stepped forward and took the spear away from the equine guard before stripping him of his armor.
"Wait wait, what's going on? Guys, boss!"
With little more than undergarments, he was dragged over to the array kicking and screaming.
"Boss! Please, what did I do wrong? I swear I didn't have any bad intentions!"
"Blame your good intentions then," the rhino groaned, "No good deed goes unpunished, not when it comes to her."
He tried to struggle but was held down and chained in a matter of seconds.
"Boss please, let me apologize to the princess! She will understand I didn't mean to tarnish her-"
"SHUT IT!"
The Rhino demihuman was still a Profound Realm expert and a single Qi infused shout was enough to shock him into silence.
"You touched her," he continued, "You could be cursed as well! We can't risk having you on the frontline anymore, just go back and live out the rest of your life in peace."
Tears streamed down the guard's face, "I-I can't! I'm the only one in my family who can serve. If...if you send me back we will all be sent down to the lower floors!"
"Yeah? Well, tough luck. Take him away!"
