The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1543
Hao Xuan planned to go down to his old room in the back of the inn for some rest but was sidetracked by a scantily dressed woman on the second floor before he could do so.
"Hey you!" she called out from the third door on the right.
Hao Xuan looked over his shoulder to see a somewhat familiar face. He had only seen her once and even that was for an instant but it was not something he would soon forget since he was completely naked at that time.
"Me?" he pointed at himself innocently.
She gestured towards the empty hallway, "Do you see anyone else around? Of course you, handsome," she winked at him while cheekily biting her lip.
Her short silky white hair came down to her naked shoulders as she rested her head on the doorframe, leaning out of the room halfway.
Despite his sour mood Hao Xuan went over, "What?"
"I'm Jasime," she introduced herself while looking him up and down, "We met-"
Hao Xuan cut her off, "I remember." (Ch 1461)
"Oh so do I darling," she said seductively as a mischievous smile crept up, "How could anyone forget something that magnificent?"
She was undressing him with her eyes like a hungry lioness, an experience that was quite foreign to Hao Xuan until now and one that he did not appreciate very much.
He turned on his heels, "If there's nothing else then I'll take my leave."
"Wait wait! I'm sorry, there really is something!"
With a defeated sign he met her gaze for the last time, "What is it?"
She took out a small envelope from her bosom, "I need you to deliver this, it's urgent."
Hao Xuan took the envelope to give it a once over. An insignia of a chipped sword sealed it both physically and spiritually with the help of a powerful energy so no one could see inside apart from the person it was meant for.
Jasime could not sense it due to her lack of cultivation but it could not be any more obvious to Hao Xuan. This energy was alarmingly sharp and robust- whoever wrote the letter inside was not an ordinary person so it was strange they would just hand it over to a nobody like him.
"Deliver it to whom?"
She pointed at the ceiling, "Upper district. Show them the insignia and the guards will tell you where to go. Don't give the letter to anyone besides her, okay?"
"Her? Who's her? I need a name or description or something- better yet, someone more experienced should deliver this."
He tried to give it back but Jasime would not accept it, "There is no time, it's urgent. The letter is of utmost importance because it comes from a very special person. Since Bertha hired you personally I'm sure you won't let her down, right? Otherwise, everyone at the inn could get in trouble!"
A loud and somewhat angry voice called out from inside the room, "Jasime! What's taking so long?!"
"Nothing my lord!" she promptly replied in a fake high-pitched voice before shutting the door in his face.
This was the second time this had happened in almost just as many minutes and Hao Xuan did appreciate it one bit. But what could he do?
As far as these people were concerned he was an ordinary slave hired by Bertha not too long ago. If they saw him walking around aimlessly within the inn then someone would surely put him to work.
*Sigh*
"It's the last time I even turn around at a random 'hey you'. What a stupid thing to do," Hao Xuan criticized his thoughtless actions before taking his leave.
The letter obviously came from a patron of the inn who came here to partake in the more, "carnal pleasures" offered by the workers here.
'I guess better get it over with fast,' he thought while making his way over to the upper district thanks to the help of a few attendants who pointed him in the right direction.
Where the lower and commercial districts were connected by a few large staircases on either side of the floating city, the only way to the upper district was from the back where a short teleportation array was.
The teleportation array was protected by twelve demihuman guards, three of whom were in the Profound Realm.
Thanks to the slave mark Hao Xuan stuck out like a sore thumb standing in the long queue and was swiftly picked out of the line to be interrogated by one of the guards that was in the spirit realm.
"You, what is your business here?!" he asked rather callously while pointing a spear at Hao Xuan's head.
The guard's upper body had traits of a hyena, especially the head that barely looked human. His bloodline must have been very pure despite being of a lower quality.
Hao Xuan casually revealed the letter to him, "I am supposed to deliver this. Should I leave it here with you?"
One look at the insignia was enough to shut him up. The guard scurried away with his literal tail between his legs to bring over one of the Profound Realm experts.
