The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1589
Hao Xuan wanted to answer for her so they could quickly leave but he realized that he didn't know either. Fortunately, this was the exact moment Lady Yuki was waiting for.
She stepped out from behind to properly introduce herself with a formal bow.
"I am called Yui, my lord"
"Yui?" Vlitgar frowned while scratching his beard thoughtfully, "That is quite a unique name and yet, I have met another with it," he muttered while walking over to the mirror trying to recall it.
"Yes, a long time ago I was sent to meet a woman with a peculiar talent. She had a daughter with that name."
He looked at her reflection in the mirror, "But I was assured her bloodline perished not long after my departure. A shame, truly, but it was her choice. I warned her what would happen if she didn't accept our terms so the blame lies solely on her."
Hao Xuan noticed Lady Yuki's balled-up fist and swiftly intervened before she could follow up with a response that might get both of them in trouble.
"That sounds like an interesting story, brother. You must tell me more later," he said while picking Lady Yuki up with both arms.
He expected her to protest but she was eerily silent allowing him to do as he pleased.
"Oh- sure. I will see you soon, brother Jin!"
"I will be right outside!" Hao Xuan responded before walking out of the room.
The door closed and after a moment of contemplation Vlitgar walked into the mirror to greet the other five.
The otherwise empty space was occupied only by floating shards of giant mirrors, each corresponding to another Night Market somewhere out there.
The five were standing around in a circle all waiting for him. Their general appearances and facial features kept twitching and shifting like pieces of a puzzle.
"This is a waste of time," one of them stepped forward before Vlitgar even had the chance to solidify his form.
Although this person's face could not be made out, the body appeared to be of a human male with strong muscles and large hands. He had three rough-looking swords attached to his sides, two on the right and one on the left.
Vlitgar gave him a weary look as if this was a regular occurrence, "What troubles you, Elazar?" he asked languidly.
Elazar reached into his grey robe, which appeared to be fished off of a homeless man's corpse to take out a small white porcelain bottle.
He placed it on the ground and stepped back.
"This! Do you have any idea how many resources it took for us to be able to send you this?"
Vlitgar picked up the bottle and smiled, "It is all for the cause, brother."
Elazar snorted, "If you cared about the cause then you would be here with us fighting on the front lines...instead of galavanting across some forsaken corner in search of a myth!"
Vlitgar's gaze turned cold as he cocked his head to the side, "Are you questioning my resolve, brother Elazar?"
Dark clouds began to surround his form but another person intervened before it could get worse.
It was a woman this time, but of what species it was unknown.
"No one here is questioning your resolve, Vlitgar. But you must understand our qualms regarding this matter. We are at war, already stretched thin with resources running low. To spend three million cursed gold at this time for another one of your 'tests' is quite...disheartening."
Vlitgar smiled contently having checked the contents of the porcelain bottle.
"There cannot be faith without doubt, dear sister. But rest assured, I have a good feeling about this one."
She let out a heavy sigh, "You have had good feelings before. Did you even meet the boy in question?"
He shook his head once, "Not yet, not without preparation. The Song Clan is keeping a close eye on him so I do not want to spook them just yet. But with this, I will know for certain...once and for all."
She went silent, prompting Vlitgar to call out her name.
"Malka, if this does not work out then I will return to the frontlines and give up the whole idea."
She nodded, "We will hold you true to your words then. Do you recall all of the signs? Remember not to use any that are not verified."
Vlitgar untied his leather armor to take out an old book, "I have them written down, you needn't worry. Once I have authenticated that he is the chosen one we will go directly to the Sanctuary to requisition more resources and manpower for the frontlines. I will expose the Daemon God and all his undoings before launching the attack."
He sounded like it was all but certain which left Malka feeling quite discouraged.
"Yes, it will be nice if they listen to us this time but do not get your hopes up, brother."
