The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1640

True to its name, the 61st Palm of the Ashuras Grand Compendious, the [Red Dragons Fury], allowed Hao Xuan to simultaneously lash out at the 17 incoming Blood Moons with the ferociousness of a real dragon.

The flaming dragon claws shredded every inch of space around him just before the Blood Moons arrived.

A torrent of Draconic Qi exploded upon contact with the Demonic Qi, turning the space into a literal piece of hell. The effects of these energies, although intense, were concentrated in a radius of a hundred meters around them.

From afar it just looked like a maelstrom of red and orange energies trying to overpower one another.

By the time Gudmunder managed to climb up the wall of sand, the energies had mostly dissipated but not without forever changing the nearby area.

The resulting heatwave created from the two energies superheated the sand, leaving the area looking like a piece of modern art made from shards of glass. The only area untouched was where Hao Xuan was standing, holding up the demon's upper body with his left hand.

All that remained of [Sedat Of Eternal Torment] was the head and a small portion of the upper torso. Meanwhile, Hao Xuan was untouched for the most part- aside from the 4-inch long cut on his neck.

He brushed a finger over the cut before meeting the demon's gaze, "That was close."

He should have been in extreme pain from losing over 80% of his body, but instead, Sedat grinned from ear to ear.

[Not close...enough]

'I wasn't aware demons could make jokes.'

Hao Xuan smirked, "No, TOO close considering you were controlling a puppet with half of its strings cut off while the rest of it was on fire and melting away. I would not be able to show my face around if you managed to do anything more than this with such a big handicap."

The demon was surprised to hear his comforting words.

[Are you...pitying me...human?]

Hao Xuan shook his head, "Not pity, just stating facts. Also, I had another advantage," he said while pointing at his eyes.

"My sight is not great right now so your illusion did not have the intended effect. I never bothered trying to find out which 'Blood Moon' held your body and solely focused on destroying everything close to me. It was quite barbaric and the only reason I knew it would work was because you could not stop yourself anymore. In a real fight it would have been an extremely risky move- one that anyone of your level could easily see through-"

[Why do you-]

Confused, Sedat cut him off before he went off on another tangent, [-hold no...ill will...towards me?]

Hao Xuan paused, trying to understand his question, "...why would I?"

[I am...a demon! A True...demon!]

"And?"

[You do not...fear me...hate me...why?]

"Like I said, why would I?" Hao Xuan questioned, more puzzled than the demon asking the question.

"You did not do anything to me. All you wanted was a fair fight and that's what just took place. Even most humans wouldn't do something like that," he muttered at the end.

[But-]

"Your powers don't work on me. What would cause fear and dread in most men only provokes my ire. I told you, I was made to fight your kind but my humanity won't let me do it without a reason. I could sense your spirit and as much as I hate to admit it, it was more sincere than most men out there."

Sedat went silent while what was left of the demonic form became still. For a second Hao Xuan thought the connection had been broken but he suddenly looked into his eyes with more "life" than ever before.

"Jin the human," Sedat spoke aloud, "The traitor was right about you!"

'?!?'

His body began to burn away from the sudden expenditure of Demonic Qi.

"Others of my kind have been sent to your city," Sedat warned, "They are not like me, they do not wish to fight- only to kill in 'His' name!"

Sedat's eyes began to light up and for an instant, Hao Xuan could see the rough outline of another face being reflected within. It was not entirely human but not excessively demonic either.

"Stay alive!" it said and the demon's body mimicked it, "Stay alive until we can meet again!"

And before Hao Xuan could ask any follow-up questions the rest of him burned away too, save for the two curved horns that fell at his feet.

Hao Xuan stood there in silence for a moment, digesting everything he had heard.

'The traitor? There is a traitor in the city? And he knows about me?? How is that possible- no one knows about my real identity! And did they already infiltrate the city? I have to warn Rufgar about-'

*Tssss*

"Ow! Ouch! Fuck that's hot!"
