The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1587
Lady Yuki was in complete disbelief watching their interaction.
Aunty Vei had told her that this "Vlitgar" person was extremely arrogant and didn't give face to anyone, not even her parents who were leaders of a powerful force back then.
But here he was smiling and laughing- with a slave no less! And speaking of the slave...
'HE HAS A MARK?!' she was thoroughly stupefied, 'How?! Why?? Even I don't!'
But when she heard Vlitgar inviting Hao Xuan to chat privately she wanted to jump from joy but that wasn't the case for him.
Even though that sounded like a request Hao Xuan knew it wasn't one he could decline.
"Of course," so he smiled at him before turning towards Lady Yuki to whisper, "I have some business to attend to, you should return now."
She grabbed his arm out of instinct just as he turned around while blurting out, "No!"
Both Vlitgar and Hao Xuan looked at her in astonishment, especially Hao Xuan.
'What the hell is this girl doing??'
Meanwhile her thoughts were along the lines of-
'This is a great opportunity to learn more about this Vlitgar person, I cannot let it go to waste!'
She had found an 'in' and wanted to make full use of it.
Hao Xuan tried his best to keep his composure under the circumstances.
"What are you doing? Didn't you say you have that 'thing' to take care of??" he muttered through gritted his teeth trying to give her a hint which was completely ignored.
Instead, she steeled her mind and upped the ante even more by hugging his arm like a lover.
She looked into his eyes with the innocence of a newborn deer, "How could I ever leave without you?"
She need not say anything else because the implication was quite obvious and one that surprised Vlitgar to no end.
He lightheartedly patted Hao Xuan on the back, "I have eyes but I could not see. How could I ever suggest breaking up a pair of lovers?"
"No that's not-" Hao Xuan tried to clear the misunderstanding by pushing her away but her grip was surprisingly strong for such a weak mortal.
"Darling," she weakly mumbled through tears, "Please don't throw me away, I promise I will be good!"
Hao Xuan's jaw almost hit the floor but Vlitgar found it quite amusing.
"Hah, young love. You two make a good pair I can tell. Come now!"
With a snap of his finger the other door opened and he walked through.
Lady Yuki tried to go after him but Hao Xuan refused to move. She looked up to meet his glaring eyes and realized she might have put him in an awkward position.
"I'm sorry but I need to do this. I will explain later, promise!" she swore wholeheartedly.
Looking into her hazel eyes Hao Xuan could feel her desperation. Somehow it reminded him of Ma Jiang in her last moments.
'Just what is so important that you are willing to risk everything?' he wondered before giving in.
*sigh*
"Fine, but don't say or do anything untoward. He is a VERY dangerous man!"
"Un, I know. Thank you," she nodded.
Hand in hand they entered the door on the right and it closed behind them.
Unlike the rest of the inn the interior of this place was much different. There were six chairs along the right side of the room facing a large mirror on the left.
The mirror covered the entire wall. It was old and a little rusky from the looks of it, made not from glass but some other kind of material.
Vlitgar had pulled up two chairs for the happy couple which they hesitantly took. He stared at them in silence until Hao Xuan spoke up after a few awkward seconds.
"So uhm, brother Vlitgar, the shattered gateway was yours then?"
He nodded.
"My apologies if I overstepped by entering without your permission..." Hao Xuan thought Vlitgar might be a little offended that he used his gateway but that was not the case as he soon realized.
"What need do you have to apologize, brother? Your authority come from the Nine and it was them who allowed you passage. I am but a humble servant, how dare I question their motives? Only-" he turned towards Lady Yuki, "I only sensed one person coming through."
Hao Xuan frowned inwardly, 'So he sensed me but not her? Could it- no it HAS to be the mark that he sensed and since she does not have one he couldn't detect her. I'll have to ask her more about that later but for now-'
"Ah, that was my fault," he suddenly wrapped his arm around Lady Yuki and pulled her into a warm embrace.
She almost slapped him out of instinct but held back right at the end.
"O-Oh my, darling not in front of company!" she playfully smacked him on the chest with one hand while pinching his sides with the other.
