The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1502
This side was less crowded but there was still a specter or two every 5 to 10 meters.
Hao Xuan destroyed a handful of them but gave up soon after. The process was too time-consuming and he was getting a bad feeling the further in he got.
A cold stinging sensation was climbing up his nape, getting stronger with every step.
He tightened his grip on the sword and increased the pace as much as he possibly could given the situation. Five minutes went by like this, moving around the specters while navigating the maze of buildings that were all covered by the stinging Yin Energy.
'Damn it, I feel like I'm going around in circles. I have to try something else.'
Hao Xuan found a spot devoid of any spirits and gingerly called out for Ryuk, something he should have done from the start.
Ryuk's voice came from inside the wall he was standing by, "What?"
"Go find the breach. I can't see anything, it's next to impossible for me to find my way around."
"Uhhh, no."
"The fuck you mean no?! Why??"
"Too dangerous. I don't want to get caught in the eye! It would take a long time to get back."
"The eye? What's that?"
"Where all these spirits come from."
"....that's the BREACH I was talking about!" Hao Xuan almost screamed out of frustration, alerting everything around him.
"You know where it is?"
Ryuk went silent for a few seconds, "Yes?"
"You don't sound too sure."
"I have not seen it but I can feel where it is. It is about to open soon."
"What do you mean open soon? It's already open, that's how so many of these things came through."
Ryun suddenly phased through and turned to the right, "Mmmm no, it is not open yet, not really."
Thanks to the spiritual threads Hao Xuan could pick up his movements to a great degree so he 'saw' where Ryuk was looking.
"It's there?"
"Yes....close."
"How close?"
"Very, just on the other side."
"Alright, fuck it," Hao Xuan pulled up his sleeve, "Go tell Liet that I found the breach. Tell him to enter the planes."
"But I can not get too close to that human-"
"Then yell from afar! Go, NOW!" Hao Xuan ordered before leaping into the air.
He used enough force to leave cracks in the street, shooting straight up. He collided with the ceiling of the upper floor, using his bare hand to dig into the metal frame to hold himself up, allowing for a top-down view.
Even with his severely limited vision and the copious amounts of Yin energy blocking the view, he could see the breach below along with tens upon tens of specters.
It was about three meters in radius, much bigger than he had ever expected. Black and dark purple in color with the pattern of an undulating eye, located on the floor of a collapsed building.
'No, that's not possible!' he exclaimed inwardly, 'It can't have gotten this big just from the specters-'
The thoughts got stuck in his mind.
There were different kinds of breaches but the general rule of thumb was- the bigger the breach the stronger the creature that would come out of it.
A breach was essentially a doorway between the physical and the immaterial realms, be it hell, heaven, or anything in between. Unless the veil was completely broken and too weak to mend itself, there would need to be an energy source and some machination to keep it open for any extended period of time.
Not to mention that every time something passed through the breach it would use up a certain amount of energy, slowly closing the doorway after some time.
'If Nae Shin was the only reason the breach opened from the other side then it would have already become unstable after this many specters came through. But not only did it not close, it became even wider. This can only mean something is keeping it open, something terribly strong! No wonder I got a bad feeling about this.'
And while he was still lost in his thoughts something happened in the distance that caught the eye of every Specter nearby.
They all awoke from their respective slumbers and began moving in the direction he had come from.
'Liet! He must have entered the planes already! I can't wait any longer-'
Hao Xuan let go of the metal beam he was holding and began his freefall. He adjusted his position as much as he could but it wasn't easy thanks to the rippling winds that were throwing him around like a rag doll.
He used the blade to cut a path for himself through the Yin energy before holding it over his head, gathering all his strength to end it in one big move.
Distance shortened in the blink of an eye and he was about to level everything in a 10+ meter radius but just before he could do so, something shot out of the rubble at breakneck speeds making him freeze just three meters before hitting the ground.
