So much was said in these last 2-3 minutes that Hao Xuan didn't even know where to begin.

'They could feel whenever I called forth all the marks?! I should have been more careful, this could have been a costly learning experience! But...this girl, I saw her when I was chasing Ryuk, and if I remember I called forth my marks back then too. It wasn't a mere coincidence she was there...'

His eyes narrowed as Hao Xuan took a step back. Even though Song Yi had the wrong idea about Nae Shin, she was on the right track and it was only a matter of time before she would find the supposed chosen one.

'With the city unable to move, their nerves must be all over the place. They think the chosen one- that 'I' can fix things but it's quite the opposite. Not to mention Nae Shin's brother wanting to bring someone in but it wasn't me. He was planning something else entirely but...maybe...just maybe I can use this girl's misunderstanding to my advantage.'

His lips arched into a smile, 'If they want the chosen one so badly, I'll give him to you.'

"Tell us what happened. Who did you meet? What did he look like??" Song Yi kept pushing Nae Shin for answers he didn't have.

He was on the verge of tears looking at their inquisitive faces, "I...d-don't know what you're talking about...I swear..."

Lady Saira shook her head, "Master Nae Shin please, you must trust us. What happened last night at the Beast Market? Where is your brother?"

At Tae Shin's mention, he instinctively turned to Hao Xuan who was grinning ear to ear.

"What-"

"I think that's enough," Hao Xuan interrupted from the back of the room, "Why don't you back off for now."

Nae Shin's eyes almost popped out of his head whereas everyone else turned to face him with expressions ranging from shock to outrage.

Song Yi was the first to crack.

"Ha...haha...what did-"

Followed closely by Kyra who was beside herself from the audacity that was on display.

"HAHAHAHA! By the gods, I have seen it all now! A slave, a fucking SLAVE talking back to you! Hahahaha! That's how little they think of you!"

She actually fell over while holding her stomach, her gills working overtime to keep the oxygen going.

Bertha's eyes widened but she chose to stay silent, even taking a few steps back to move out of the way.

Song Yi's eyes turned black as an inky darkness seeped into them.

"A filthy, DEGENERATE slave dares to interrupt ME?! Tries to tell me what to do!??"

Lady Saira was just as displeased but she did not let her emotions cloud her judgment.

"Lady Yi, as 'distasteful' as it might be for you, there is no need for bloodshed today."

Song Yi turned towards her as her shadow divided into three distinct beastly figures.

"There is EVERY need for bloodshed! You would have my honor be tarnished by a nameless SLAVE?!"

Hao Xuan shook his head wearily, "Tsk tsk. If your honor can be tarnished by a 'nameless slave' then it wasn't worth much to begin with," he said while approaching her without any fear, "And my name is Jin. You may call me...Jin," he stopped a couple of meters away from her.

Song Yi's killing intent was so intense that it prickled his skin. Her internal energy exploded to the third stage of the Profound Realm in an instant as each of the three beastly shadows exploded into ten more to surround the hall, slowly edging closer.

But Hao Xuan only smirked in response, "What? Are you going to kill me?"

She shook her head with some effort, trying her best not to lose control.

"Nooo, you...you will WISH for death but it will not come," she spoke through gritted teeth, "I will rip that filthy tongue from your mouth and feed it back to you a hundred times over!"

"Ohh, scary!" Hao Xuan joked, "So you don't want to know about the chosen one then?"

All the shadows froze in their spots.

"What...did you say? What do YOU know about the chosen one?!"

Hao Xuan walked around her to stand behind Nae Shin under everyone's curious gazes.

"I saw him yesterday, I was there at the Beast Market."

Lady Saira immediately stepped between Song Yi and Hao Xuan, "If you tell us the truth I promise you will be protected. You have my word!"

Hao Xuan chuckled and leaned down to whisper something into Nae Shin's ears. His eyes widened but he gave a silent nod in the end.

"I believe these people mean you no harm, young master. Why don't you show them?"

Kyra shuffled back to her feet while dusting off her dress, "Oi oi, what the hell is he talking about?"

Hao Xuan looked Song Yi in the eye, "The one you are looking for is right here," he said while patting Nae Shin on the shoulder, "Young master, please prove your identity."

Nae Shin lowered his head, "U-Un, if you say so. I trust you."

"Is this guy serious? Oi! Are you fucking with me right now, slave?!" Kyra yelled at the insinuation.

Even Lady Saira's brow began to furrow, "Sir Jin, this is no time for jokes. Please tell-"

Before she could finish Hao Xuan called forth all Nine of the marks, not hiding their presence in the least.

Song Yi fell to her knees in an instant as her mark burned in recognition of the Crown of Darkness that hovered before her. She couldn't tell it was the crown of darkness, only that it commanded a lot more authority than her.

Kyra and Lady Saira's expressions were similar in shock and awe as both could feel a connection with a fellow mark bearer.

"It-It's true!"

Lady Saira knelt in front of him followed by Kyra and then the rest of them. Everyone besides Bertha and Hao Xuan was on the ground, kowtowing before Nae Shin in reverence.

Those with the mark of the Old Gods had the strongest reactions. The Nine were gods to their gods, and right now a handpicked representative of the Nine was just a few meters away from them.
