The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1562
If Hao Xuan was unable to find a solution in time then Cerberus would continue to lose his vital blood until there was nothing left of him. This was a huge problem for a couple of reasons.
Hao Xuan shook his head in dismay, "Damnit, just when I thought I'd be able to catch a little break something else goes wrong," and jumped out of the crater.
He made his way up to the hill to survey the area that was either on fire or was soon going to be.
'It looks like most of his vital blood is still contained within the lake but it is so hot that everything around it keeps melting. Rocks turn into lava forming rivers that flow south and west, destroying everything in their path. I should try to contain it first...'
Hao Xuan closed his eyes and channeled more than half of his current soul power to begin the first major terraforming project to reshape this world. The precise control he had over his imagination played a big role in getting the best results with minimum effort.
A high-pitched but barely audible hum reverberated throughout the surroundings as copious amounts of soul power poured out in spades.
The land began to split and give way to the mountains that kept emerging from underneath one after the other. From just over a hundred meters to more than 15 kilometers in height, there was little holding him back apart from the copious soul power requirement.
He created 500 to 1000-meter-deep lakes in between the mountains which could hold the lava whenever it overflowed. Each lake was connected to the next by way of narrow valleys in between the peaks.
They went up, down, left, and right to stretch across the two mountain ranges that not only contained the overflowing Yang Energy but also cooled down the molten rock that would keep trickling down.
The crater Cerberus was 'sealed' in had to be raised more than 12,000 meters forming a volcano at the center of the mountain ranges.
Hao Xuan only stopped when he was utterly drained of all soul power. He staggered back listlessly, barely able to stand on his own two feet.
"Hah...hah...that should be...enough...for now..." he muttered through laboured breaths while gazing at his handy work.
Despite feeling empty and hopelessly weak, he felt like a god after manipulating the massive landmass according to his personal design and wishes.
**
Hao Xuan was standing on the tallest peak next to the volcano watching the black smoke billow into the atmosphere.
But what surprised him most were the events unfolding at the foot of the volcano. The series of empty lakes he had left all over for the lava to gather in were being filled by water even without his intervention. (Some reference images posted in Discord)
"That's a nice surprise. Maybe I don't have to do everything by myself," he muttered under his breath rather gleefully, "Maybe those houses also came about as a result of the natural evolution of this land? I doubt it though, haha."
Hao Xuan believed that if another lifeform had created those structures then he would have seen some other evidence of its presence by now, especially after this ruckus. But nothing had come out at all.
He went back to the bamboo forest that seemed to be worlds apart from the volcano and not just distance-wise. Breathing a sigh of relief, he spent more than an hour ruminating on how best to stop the damage being done to Cerberus.
A few individuals that might hold the answer came to mind, starting from Ryuk.
Unfortunately, this respite was short-lived and had to come to an end when he felt his body being disturbed.
**
Hao Xuan jumped to his feet after awakening back in his physical form.
"What?! What's wrong??"
Ryuk's voice came from one of the walls, "Humans nearby, two of them. They are fighting not too far away."
"How close?"
"Three streets on the left."
"Forget it then. As long as they don't come here it's none of my business," Hao Xuan waved his hand intending to restart to his meditation to return to the other side when he heard the next few words.
"Shame. Poor female human will meet a terrible end. They always scream for help but no one ever comes."
A series of long-buried memories resurfaced in his mind as if uncovered by a bolt of lightning. They were of another lifetime where he had been a victim of similar circumstance. The screams, the helplessness, the pain, and all the shame came flooding back in spades.
Hao Xuan smacked his forehead with gritted teeth, "No! This has nothing to do with us, stop showing me those!"
But when he tried to shut the memories out an apparition appeared in front of his face screaming for dear life in a 1-to-1 recreation.
