Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 146: An Embarrassing Cast
Although it was only 9:45 PM and the competition hadn't officially started, the live broadcast was already in full swing. The screen was filled with athletes warming up, and the cameras were fixated on rows of muscular men with perfectly defined abs.
Nancy opened the screen-casting function on her phone and immediately spotted a device named "Ultra-HD Giant Projection 1." Assuming it was the zoo's equipment, she clicked connect without a second thought.
A "Connection Successful" notification immediately popped up on her phone. However, the outdoor screen in front of her remained pitch black.
Nancy inspected the projector in confusion. What's going on? Is this old thing broken? But my phone says it's connected!
Meanwhile, inside the ultra-luxury RV.
Barry was leaning back on the leather sofa, resting with his eyes closed. He found it strange himself—whenever he was at the Loren Zoo, he fell asleep with remarkable ease, as if the air here held some calming magic.
In the midst of his light nap, the green indicator light on the ceiling projector suddenly flickered. A crisp electronic female voice echoed through the surround sound system: "Device connected successfully."
The sudden notification jolted Barry awake. He frowned and opened his eyes, still heavy with sleep. A second later, he froze.
The 100-inch electric screen inside the RV had unfurled on its own. Playing across the massive display was the live broadcast of the World Swimming Championships. What made Barry's pulse quicken was the sight of broad-shouldered, narrow-waisted swimmers warming up shirtless. The screen was a sea of muscular men.
The broadcast was even considerate enough to provide several close-ups of bronze skin glistening with water droplets. Barry reached out to his side—sure enough, Star was nowhere to be found.
Recalling how Nancy had been frequenting the swimming training base lately, Barry's face turned as dark as ink.
Back at the mini-theater, Nancy was still wrestling with the old projector. She finally discovered a burnt-out port. Great, this piece of junk dies right when I need it!
But then she grew even more puzzled. Wait, if this is broken, where exactly is my phone casting to?
Just as she was scratching her head, a voice thick with suppressed rage drifted from behind her.
"Nancy."
Nancy turned in surprise to see Barry standing there in charcoal-black silk pajamas. The high-end fabric draped perfectly over his tall, lean frame. He had clearly rushed straight out of the RV after being woken up; his hair was slightly messy, and his captivating eyes were smoldering with a quiet fire.
"Nancy, I was sleeping, not dead," Barry said through gritted teeth. "I’ll let it slide that you kidnapped my dog. But forcibly taking over my private theater to watch this... did you bother asking the owner's permission before starting your public-funded eye-candy session?"
He took a deep breath, nearly laughing from the sheer frustration. "What, are you trying to give me a heart attack so you can inherit the RV?"
Nancy froze. She looked down at her phone and wanted to sink into the ground. Her phone had dropped the lagging zoo Wi-Fi and automatically connected to a high-speed, password-free network named "Random 5G."
She had accidentally "borrowed" his private high-speed internet.
The image of Barry being woken up in his dark RV by a screen full of glistening muscular men flashed through her mind. Nancy was embarrassed enough to die, yet she couldn't help but find it a little bit funny.
"That... well, I can explain! No, wait, let me justify this!" She frantically lifted Snowball, trying to use the weasel’s furry body to block Barry's interrogating gaze.
Snowball looked bewildered, thinking he was on a new "special mission." He flicked his pink tongue excitedly. Do I spray him? I'm ready!
"No, no, no! Don't spray him!" Nancy hugged the weasel tight. If Snowball sprayed that man, she couldn't afford the damages even if she sold herself.
"It’s... it's your fault for being so excessively rich and not setting a Wi-Fi password," she muttered, her voice growing smaller as she lost her confidence. "My phone just... it connected itself..."
Barry looked at her—acting like a coward one second and talking back the next. He was truly exasperated. But before he could speak, Nancy glanced at the time on her phone and started panicking like a hen on a hot griddle.
