Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 329: The Tracking Maybach
"I’ve got the same name, but I’m the one at the zoo cleaning up after these spoiled brats. Life isn't fair."
Leon kept up the act while he worked, moving quickly to get the animals settled in the car. The second he closed the door, the look of misery vanished. He whipped out his phone and fired off a frantic message.
"We have a problem. Simon is setting Nancy up with someone."
…
Meanwhile, at the Goodman Corp Hospital, the phone on the director's desk wouldn't stop vibrating. Barry rubbed his eyes and set down his pen. His monitor was filled with medical journals, and Nancy’s physical exam report sat on the desk, covered in his dense annotations.
He picked up the phone. When he saw Leon’s message, his expression darkened. Right then, his driver called.
"Sir, Nancy said she doesn't need me anymore. What are your orders?"
"Where is she going?" Barry’s voice was ice cold.
The driver hesitated. "She didn't say, but it sounded like she was meeting someone."
"Where has she been today? Who did she see? What was her mood?"
The questions came fast. The driver didn't dare miss a detail. "She went to Summers Corp and then the Townsville precinct. She seemed to be in a great mood on the way to the station. She mentioned she was really looking forward to meeting this person. She was playing music and seemed excited."
Barry’s grip on the phone tightened as he thought about this Perry character Leon had mentioned.
"Fine. Don't come back. Follow her. Find out where they're going."
He hung up and sent a quick text to Jacob: "The race is off tonight."
Three seconds later, his phone was ringing. "Barry! You're harder to reach than a celebrity these days," Jacob complained. "If you aren't at the office, you're at the zoo. And now you're blowing me off?"
Barry didn't bother explaining. He just sent a screenshot of Leon’s text.
"What?!" Jacob shouted. "Someone’s trying to move in on her? Stay put, Barry. I'm coming over. This is a crisis."
…
"Officer Perry, hi. I'm Nancy."
Nancy climbed into Perry’s SUV. She felt a bit awkward, keeping things professional.
"Hey. Just call me Perry."
The man in the driver's seat was athletic and tanned, with a quick, easy smile. As a SWAT instructor, he was built for the job. "I’ll take you to my dad’s training base first so you can see the setup."
He pulled out into the afternoon traffic and headed for the outskirts of town. After a few minutes, Perry glanced in the rearview mirror. A car had been following them for a while, staying at a consistent distance. It was being driven well, but Perry’s instincts kicked in immediately.
But the car was a Maybach Pullman. It was too flashy for a typical tail. He figured they were probably just heading to the same sports complex near the city limits.
Half an hour later, they arrived at the Glory Training Base. The place was huge and packed with people training in everything from MMA to other forms of martial arts. Nancy realized that if she could learn to hold her own, she’d be a lot more useful on the job.
Perry spent an hour walking her through the facility. By 5:00 PM, they were finished with the tour. He brought over some gear for her. "The regular coaches handle the daily classes, but I’m usually here after work. Let’s get you started with the basics today so you can see if you like it."
