Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 268: A Fall From Grace

It finally clicked for Chandler. Nancy hadn't asked for those pastries because she was hungry. She was packing him a last meal for his trip to prison.

"You've gone too far, Nancy!" he spat, shaking with rage.

Nancy just tilted her head. "I've gone too far? What do you call the twenty-two years the Summers family spent making my life hell? Don’t worry, Chandler. Your best days are still ahead of you in a cell."

Jack snatched the bag of pastries and slammed it onto the floor. "I’ll find the truth. I’ll clear my father’s name!" He spun on Simon, his voice thick with venom. "Simon, you better be ready for the discipFaylinry hearing coming your way."

Simon didn’t even look at him. He just signaled his men. "Take him away!"

Two officers stepped up, grabbed Chandler by the arms, and marched him toward the exit. Simon caught Nancy’s eye and gave her a brief nod. "I’ll be in touch."

Nancy gave him a quick wink. "Got it. You look great today, by the way."

Simon paused, catching the smug little grin on her face. He shook his head and let out a quiet laugh, looking at her with a mix of frustration and affection. Then his expression went cold again as he led his team out.

Downstairs, the entrance was already swarming with reporters and high society types. Under the constant flash of cameras, Chandler Summers, the man who used to run this town, was led out in handcuffs for everyone to see.

The press surged forward, shouting over each other.

"Mr. Summers, what do you have to say to your shareholders?"

"We heard Ginnie’s vaccine was stolen from Nancy. Any comment?"

"Did you order the hit at the Loren Zoo? Why the vendetta against Nancy?"

Chandler looked pathetic under the lights as they shoved him into the back of a cruiser. This was only the beginning.

Inside the lounge, the silence was heavy. Everyone was in shock. The experts from Summers Corp stood around looking lost. The consultation hadn't even started and their boss had been hauled off in cuffs. Their world was collapsing.

Callum was just as stunned. The man he’d been talking to a few minutes ago was now a common criminal. He turned to Jack, his voice sharp. "I thought you were the security expert here. How did you fail to notice your own father was a criminal?"

Jack stepped forward, desperate. "Mr. Callum, please, let me explain."

"Stay back! Get away from me!" Callum barked. He waved his own men over. "Security! Over here!"

His personal bodyguards moved in, forming a wall around him. Once he calmed down, Callum turned to Barry. "Mr. Barry, thank you. Thank God you brought the police up when you did."

Barry shook his head and looked at Nancy.

"Thank Nancy. She’s the one who stayed in contact with the police. I just showed them the fastest way up."

Callum’s attitude did a total 180. He turned to Nancy with newfound respect. "Ms. Nancy, after what I just saw, I have absolute faith in you. Please, I’m begging you. Treat my horse."

"Of course. We should go now. We've delayed long enough," Nancy said. As she turned to leave, her eyes drifted toward Barry. She was used to seeing him in suits, but this was the first time she’d seen him in riding gear.

Barry seemed to sense her staring. He looked up and caught her gaze.

Caught red-handed, Nancy just smiled. "You look great in that outfit today."

The directness caught Barry off guard. He cleared his throat and looked away. "There’s an invitational this afternoon."

"Oh, right," Nancy nodded with a smirk. "Too bad I have to go earn a living. Guess I'll miss it."

She started following Callum toward the stables. Barry watched her go for a moment before speaking softly. "There will be plenty of other chances."

Callum was already ignoring the Summers siblings entirely, gesturing for Nancy to lead the way. "Ms. Nancy, right this way."

Seeing Callum walk away, Ginnie panicked and rushed to block his path. "Sir, this is a setup! Nancy staged this whole thing just to stop us! Trust Summers Corp!"

She pointed to the team of experts behind her. "They’re all ready. Just give us a chance!"

Callum frowned, his rejection final. "After what I just saw? I can’t trust anything related to Summers Corp. If the chairman is a criminal, how can I trust the team he hired?"

Ginnie grew desperate, stepping closer. "You don't have to trust the company, but you have to trust the experts!"
