Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 361: The Wolf In The Corner
Because of those terms, Nancy’s Happy Bites was stuck in the same boat as every other competitor. They were shoved into the most remote, quiet corner of the venue where nobody walked.
The other sponsors stayed in the shadows, whispering. Even though they were pissed off, they still had to do what the organizers said.
"They really think they're something special."
"Nothing we can do. Their stuff is the only thing people are looking for right now."
"I hope someone shows up and puts her in her place. She needs a reality check."
"Forget it. I heard even the professional handlers have to pull favors just to get a bag of that food."
They grumbled for a bit and then went back to their own empty, quiet booths at the edge of the hall.
Nancy looked over at the Special Bites booth in the middle of the room. It was set up like a luxury jewelry counter under bright lights. She didn't have much of an expression as she looked away.
After checking her own booth, Nancy went to the van to get Star.
The door opened and a sleek, grey black figure jumped out. Star stood there and looked around, his eyes sharp in the dim light. He had been washed the day before, and his thick fur had a silver glow to it. With his ears up and his tail down, he looked powerful and wild.
A few people who knew about dogs whispered as they watched him. "Is that a Wolfdog? He looks purebred."
"I thought it was a wolf for a second."
"Wait, does he look familiar to you?"
The dog looked cold and mean until he saw Nancy. Then he immediately got excited. Star tilted his big head. "Why are we all the way over here in the corner?"
He wagged his big tail. "I'll go get some people! I'll bring everyone over here!"
Nancy laughed at how fast he went from looking like a wolf king to an excited puppy. She rubbed the thick fur on his neck. "Don't worry about it.Quality usually speaks for itself."
In the main hall, Ginnie’s booth was the center of attention. People were crowding around it under the lights. Nancy’s booth was ignored in the corner. She didn't care and just sat down to play with Star.
Just then, the organizers and Ginnie started walking around to look at the products.
"See? We did everything you asked. We didn't let anyone else get close to your display."
"Good." Ginnie stopped and looked over at Nancy’s booth. She didn't hide the look of disgust on her face.
Twenty meters and a red line made all the difference. One side was bright and crowded, and the other was a small, empty stand. Ginnie felt so important that she didn't even bother saying anything. Nancy wasn't worth her time anymore.
She figured Nancy had found some cheap workshop to make her krill and algae food. There was no marketing for it online, so she assumed Nancy was out of money.
Ginnie walked away with the group, but her assistant stayed behind to get one last word in. "Nancy, did you really think you'd be fine without Summers Corp? Your formulas weren't the reason Special Bites succeeded. It was the company. You were just a small part of it."
Nancy looked at her and smiled. "Success?" she asked. "It looks like you're just losing money to get attention. Why are you so cocky?"
Star suddenly looked up at the assistant and let out a low growl, showing his teeth. The assistant jumped back, her face turning white. She lost her nerve instantly.
She tried to act tough, but her voice was shaking. "You... stop lying! I'm not going to argue with you. You're just trying to get attention from us!"
She didn't look at Star again as she turned around and ran off.
A few minutes later, the crowd around Special Bites got even bigger. The champion of the scent tracking competition had just been announced.
