Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 480: Performance at Knifepoint
In the video, Flowie sat on her familiar sofa, with the fish tank that had caused so much trouble visible in the background. However, it was now filled with a school of vibrant new fish.
She looked at the camera with a forced, apologetic smile and spoke in a light tone. "Hi everyone. I am so sorry for making you all worry over a few little fish and taking up public resources. It was really just my own lack of experience. Look, we bought a new tank of fish and they are very active. There is no need to worry! Happy New Year, everyone!"
In the comments, many users called her a drama queen, accusing her of clout chasing and self-scripted hype.
But Nancy’s fingertips were ice cold. Her attention was not on Flowie’s smile at all. Her entire focus was locked on the background audio of the video. Inside that active new tank, several angelfish were huddled against the glass, whispering to each other.
"That man... why is he holding that shiny thing against the woman’s back?"
"He is crouching behind her, making her talk! It is terrifying!"
"The woman’s legs are clearly shaking... why is she still smiling at that black box?"
The whispers from the angelfish made Nancy’s blood run cold. This was not a clarification. It was a performance Flowie was forced to give at knifepoint for her own survival. The man had torn off his mask, moving from hidden cleanups to blatant coercion.
What would happen after the recording? How would he treat Flowie? Would he silence her, or was this the start of long term control?
Nancy did not dare to follow that thought.
In that suffocating moment, the phone in her hand vibrated violently. The caller ID read Dimsdale Police. She answered immediately, and a low, urgent voice came through. "Nancy! We have something. A sparrow just flew in to report, and it is incredibly agitated. Listen to this!"
Nancy pressed the phone to her ear and held her breath. A second later, the trembling chirps of the little sparrow came through.
"Reporting! I have an important discovery about the male human in the house with the pointed roof! Early this morning, while it was still pitch black, he got up! He pulled out all those massive plants on the balcony and packed them away!"
Nancy’s eyes sharpened. This confirmed her suspicion that those plants contained incriminating evidence.
"Where did he take the plants after he packed them up?"
"I am not sure where they were moved. He did not drive his own car. Their car has been in the garage the whole time." The sparrow tilted its head, trying to recall the conversation among its peers. "But a squirrel brother with a very sharp nose said he smelled that strong, familiar, nasty scent this morning near a giant iron monster that eats trash. It was that weird smell from the man’s plants! His plants don't smell sweet like others. They always have a stinking, uncomfortable odor, so all of us nearby remember it very well!"
"A garbage truck?" Nancy’s pupils contracted. She turned immediately to the Dimsdale police on the line. "Check it now! Find out if any garbage trucks entered or exited that villa complex early this morning before dawn. Focus on that specific time window!"
"Understood!" The officer’s voice tightened, and the background was instantly filled with rapid orders and the clatter of keyboards.
Nancy’s heart remained in her throat. While the evidence was crucial, Flowie’s safety came first. She leaned closer to the phone, her voice dropping to a whisper as she fought her anxiety. "Little sparrow, do me one more favor. Go see what is happening inside that villa. Is the woman still safe? Have there been any strange noises?"
The sparrow fluttered its wings, sounding a bit frustrated. "The nest of those humans has all the curtains pulled tight. We cannot see anything from the outside."
It paused, its beady black eyes darting around as it reported its findings. "But we found a few ways to sneak in! For example, there is a square breathing mouth on the wall. And there are gaps under the stone hole that swallows the big iron boxes!"
The sparrow lowered its head, looking a bit embarrassed, and tried to cover its round, fluffy body with its wings. Its voice grew smaller. "I... I have been eating a bit too well lately. My body is a bit fat, and I cannot squeeze through. But I have already sent the thinnest sparrow chick in our troop to give it a try!"
The bird’s earnest and responsible attitude loosened the tension in Nancy’s chest just a fraction, and she could not help but smile.
"It is okay. Being a bit chubby is good. It keeps you warm in the winter."
