Little Fatty finally managed to hang steadily upside down. Although his little belly was still round, the great cause of weight loss remained a work in progress.

Nancy looked up and quickly scanned the exterior wall, her voice fast and clear. "Master Crow, the perpetrator is on the second floor and is most likely to escape through a window. How many windows are available to him here?"

Master Crow responded immediately. "The kitchen window and the bedroom window!"

Nancy made an instant decision. "Little Fatty, you guard the kitchen window. Master Crow, keep a close eye on the bedroom window. Once the suspect escapes from inside, follow him. Return here and signal us only after you have located his hideout!"

Suddenly entrusted with such a heavy responsibility, the little bat's dark eyes widened. His tiny claws instinctively gripped the railing tighter, and he responded timidly, as if he hadn't heard correctly. "M-me?"

Nancy nodded solemnly, her gaze resting on Little Fatty. "Fatty, I have to count on you now. This area is full of old alleys with many forks and obstacles, but for you, this is home turf. You are far more agile than Master Crow in a place like this."

In the open sky, a crow would usually be faster due to its powerful wings. However, in these narrow alleys filled with low eaves, crisscrossing clotheslines, and piled-up clutter, the bat was king. A bat can fly at speeds of twenty to forty kilometers per hour; this endurance and speed are far more sustainable than a human's, providing the capability to track a criminal all the way to their den.

Little Fatty could use his natural strength in echolocation to navigate freely through cramped spaces, making sharp turns and sudden ascents or descents like a bolt of grey lightning, almost never colliding with anything. After all, modern aircraft radar was developed based on the echolocation characteristics of bats!

Master Crow, usually so arrogant, spoke with forced awkwardness to encourage the youngster. "In a place like this... the fat brat is better than me."

Hearing this, Little Fatty immediately puffed out his round little chest. Although he was still nervous, he took flight with a "whoosh" toward the kitchen window, quickly vanishing into the dim night.

Nancy exchanged a quick look with her companions, completing the layout in a flash, and then raised her hand to knock on the door.

Elsa had said the landlady was Madam Loraine. Nancy hammered on the door, her voice sounding worried and urgent. "Madam Loraine? Hello! We are from the community medical station, here to check on your condition!"

Elsa followed up immediately, her tone carrying the perfect amount of urgency. "It's Elsa! I've brought a doctor!" Are you all right? Can you open the door?"

Autumn also raised her voice, both for the person inside to hear and as a public declaration. "The ambulance is on its way and will be here shortly!"

After a brief silence, a series of urgent squeaks suddenly echoed through the night breeze. Coming from a distance, it was Little Fatty transmitting via ultrasonic waves. "Master Crow! The bad guy jumped out the kitchen window and ran! I've got him!"

The bat's sonic waves traveled far through the intricate alleys. Little Fatty's voice grew more distant as he gave chase with all his might. A moment later, Master Crow's silhouette shot into the night like an arrow from a bow, following the lead.

The thug was finally gone!

Nancy and the others burst through the door almost simultaneously. They found Madam Loraine collapsed on the floor, her face ashen and her breathing so faint it was barely detectable. Time seemed to tighten abruptly.

Elsa lunged toward the familiar drawer to find the emergency medicine, her movements so fast she knocked over several items on the table. Nancy knelt beside Madam Loraine, quickly checking her pulse and clearing her airway. Having received first-aid training, she began the emergency procedures with steady composure.

Meanwhile, Autumn turned toward the door and screamed at the top of her lungs, "Thief! Someone is stealing!" Help! Catch the thief!"

The screams tore through the silence of the night. One window after another lit up. Footsteps and inquiries echoed in the corridor, and flashlight beams swept through the night sky from different directions. The old community, which had been suffocatingly deathly quiet just a moment ago, was suddenly jolted awake by these cries. The lights dispelled the darkness, and the sound of human voices suppressed the fear. The night was no longer a cover for the criminal; it became vibrant and noisy.

Soon, the ambulance arrived at the scene. Madam Loraine's color returned slightly after Elsa administered the emergency medicine, and her breathing gradually stabilized. Although the situation was temporarily eased, Elsa followed the stretcher onto the ambulance just to be safe, with Autumn accompanying her to help.

Nancy chose to stay behind. She quickly lit up her phone and opened the tracking app. The real-time light of Master Crow's smartwatch was flashing rhythmically on the map. Without hesitation, she dialed Simon's number.

"The suspect has fled!" She spoke quickly and clearly. "My little detectives are tracking his real-time location. I'm sharing the path with you now to see if you can intercept him!"

Simon's response was sharp and decisive. "Understood!"
