Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 95: The Furry Siege

4 min 1 views

Suddenly, a commotion erupted nearby. The crowd began to buzz with excitement and confusion.

"Holy—! Am I still dreaming?"

"My god, where did all these animals come from? Are they out for a morning jog?"

"Where are they going? Where are their owners?"

The two Special Police officers on duty, Waylon and David, immediately snapped to attention. What they saw left them speechless. A small army of animals was charging across the commercial plaza, led by an alpaca that was actually carrying two exhausted lop-eared rabbits on its back!

"Did I not wake up properly today?" Waylon muttered, rubbing his eyes.

"What do we do?" David asked, his hand hovering over his holster. "Is this even our jurisdiction?"

"I have no idea," Waylon replied. "I've handled riots, but I've never seen a lineup of 'suspects' like this!"

"Look out—they're heading straight for us!"

In moments, the alpaca led the animal vanguard to the police post. A platinum fox began pawing at Waylon’s tactical trousers; the lop-eared rabbits stood on their hind legs and "begged" with their paws; a Call Duck began rubbing its plump, soft body against David’s combat boots.

The officers were completely surrounded by a wall of fur and feathers.

David had never felt this panicked in his life. He swallowed hard. "Chief, what do we do? We're being besieged!"

Waylon had years of field experience, but his training manual hadn't covered a "cuddle-attack." "How should I know? I didn't take 'Animal Diplomacy' at the academy!"

"I'll report to dispatch," Waylon said, pressing his radio. "Dispatch, emergency! We’ve been surrounded..."

"What?" the sergeant’s voice crackled back, sharp and serious. "Who is bold enough to attack officers in broad daylight? Hold your position, backup is on the way!"

"No, no!" Waylon shouted. "You don't understand—we've been surrounded by animals! Look, I can't even explain it properly. Just send help, and tell them to bring a vet!"

By now, the scene had attracted a massive crowd of onlookers, all with their phones out. Ginnie’s disastrous livestream had already gone viral, and several bystanders began shouting explanations to the bewildered officers.

"Officer! These animals just escaped from that 'Cuties Petting Zoo' on the fourth floor!"

"That place is a house of horrors! They abuse the animals and drugged this alpaca just to keep it standing. They’re running for their lives!"

At that moment, the alpaca slumped to the ground in front of Waylon. It gently nudged the rabbits off its back before collapsing onto its side, panting heavily. The artificial energy from the morning’s injection had finally run out, and the poor creature was soaked in sweat, steam rising from its nostrils.

David panicked. He didn't want to see such a gentle creature die on his watch. "We need a doctor! Do we call 911 for a vet?"

Waylon suddenly remembered something. "Wait, I remember a guy on loan from the main precinct—Simon. He said his sister is a world-class vet!"

"You mean Ginnie, that girl from the livestream?" David asked skeptically.

Waylon shook his head. "No, we couldn't afford her anyway. I mean Nancy! Simon said she’s the real deal—a kind heart and a genius with animals. He helped us catch a thief the other day and said if we ever have animal trouble, she’s the only one to call."

Waylon pulled out his phone and scrolled through his contacts until he found the number Simon had given him.

Meanwhile, Master Crow was grumbling to Nancy. "Can you get me an Apple Watch next time? This smartwatch is for kids! I’m a high-ranking officer in the bird mafia!"

"It’s a smart-tracker, Raven. Be grateful," Nancy laughed. "Besides, if you want a luxury model, use some of that 'private stash' you've been hiding and I'll buy it for you."

The crow immediately began preening his feathers, pretending he hadn't heard her.

Just then, Nancy’s phone rang.

"I understand. I'll be there right away."

Nancy hung up. It was the Special Police asking for her help. She wasn't surprised; Captain Sam from the Major Crimes Unit had been promoting her zoo to every department in the city, often sharing her animal rescue posts.

Nancy placed a bag of treats in front of Master Crow. This time, it wasn't just bird biscuits; she had specially prepared meat croquettes for the eagles and falcons.

"I’m going to save the alpaca. Remember to tell your 'underworld' bosses that there’s a feast waiting for them at the zoo!"

She doubted the majestic raptors would actually take her up on the offer—they were usually too proud to associate with humans—but she knew her manners.
