Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 411: The Peace Offering
That confidence came straight from Nancy.
When Morten called to pull the funding earlier that morning, Nancy was standing right there. Without a word, she had pulled out her checkbook, scribbled a figure, and pressed the slip into Sicily’s hand before the director could even process what was happening.
Between the damages paid out by the Dessert Route crew and Nancy’s two million dollar investment, the production was more than covered.
It was perfect timing. The government bounty for catching the spies had finally cleared, and the amount was exactly two million.
Now, the Sanddune production was flush with cash. They were viral before the first trailer even dropped, and distributors were already knocking. With Barry’s elite logistics team backing them, the crew was operating like a well-oiled machine.
While things were heating up in the desert, the atmosphere at the Neo Summers Corp headquarters in Bellwood was freezing.
Yvonne, the chairwoman, looked like she was made of ice. She slammed her coffee cup onto the table with a sharp crack.
"Two A-listers. Do you have any idea how much we spent to build them up?"
"Gone in a single afternoon. A nine-figure project is about to go up in smoke."
Her voice shook with suppressed rage. "I leave the country for a few days and the entire company falls apart."
Sitting across from her was her brother, Anders Summers, the President of Neo Summers Corp Entertainment. He leaned forward, trying to keep his voice level. "Yvonne, calm down. We still have a move to make."
He lowered his voice, laying out the plan.
"The person who started this has to be the one to end it. The key to this mess is Nancy. If we can get her to keep her mouth shut, or better yet, get her to publicly state that the friction was just a minor misunderstanding, we can fix this."
A calculating glint appeared in his eyes.
"Once she is on board, we talk to the Tourism Board and release a joint statement with her crew. We frame the whole thing as a filming dispute that has been settled. If we shift the public narrative, the project stays on track and Kevin and Jenna might actually save their careers."
Anders looked up, his desperation masked by cold logic.
"The priority is getting Nancy to agree. If she cooperates, we can weather the storm."
Yvonne’s fingernails tapped rhythmically against the table. "Have you forgotten about her Happy Bites brand? She nearly swallowed our entire market share and cost me hundreds of millions. Now you want me to go beg her for a favor? How am I supposed to swallow that?"
She took a sharp breath, her tone hardening. "Besides, we have burned every bridge with that girl. Knowing her, she won't just let us off the hook."
"Yvonne, times change," Anders argued. "We just have to make the offer too good to refuse. She is out there filming with her animals now. She already has one foot in the industry."
He gestured to the pile of proposals on her desk. "Neo Summers Corp can offer her a top-tier contract. We can build shows around her and make her animals stars. We could even fund a subsidiary, a joint venture between us and Nancy. She provides the expertise, we provide the capital and the distribution."
A confident smile spread across his face. "Nobody turns down that kind of money."
"Nancy gets our platform to scale her business and we use her influence to survive this crisis. The math is simple."
Anders stood up and adjusted his tie. "I will personally go meet with her."
Yvonne had calmed down. She picked up her tea. "Fine, give it a shot. As it happens, the annual Police Elite Training starts in Bellwood next week."
She blew gently on the surface of her tea. "Nancy will definitely come to Bellwood with Simon. Use that opportunity to pay her a visit. After all," she looked at Anders with a knowing expression, "you have never personally crossed her. She shouldn't have a grudge against you."
She set the cup down. "Make sure to hint that we can pull some strings to get Simon transferred to a core position here in Bellwood. The girl is stubborn, but she won't gamble with Simon's future."
Anders grinned. "Yvonne, you really do have an answer for everything."
Yvonne scrolled through her phone, pausing on a headline. "What is the status of Devon’s contract renewal?"
