Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 274: Precision
Ginnie stepped aside, her voice full of fake politeness. "By all means. Our team at Summers Corp would love to see how you handle this."
Brandon frowned, looking confused by the sudden change in tone.
Ginnie leaned in and whispered, "Let her fail. When she’s stuck, you can step in and save the day. It’ll make you look even better."
Brandon nodded as he caught on. "You're young to be leading a team, but you definitely know how to play the game."
Ginnie was thrilled. In her head, the plan was perfect: Callum would be furious with Nancy for the mistake, he’d turn on Barry for bringing her, and Nancy would lose her only real protector.
Nancy took Cloud’s lead rope. "Mr. Callum, let me try. I don't need a high-risk surgery to fix this. I can do it with a single small cut."
Brandon heard her jab at his method and let out a cold snort. He told himself he wouldn't lift a finger when she came begging for help later.
Nancy patted Cloud’s neck. "Cloud, you want me to take that needle out?"
Cloud nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! Please. I don't want that guy doing experiments on my veins."
Callum hesitated, seeing how much the horse trusted her.
A few executives looking to score points with Callum jumped in. "Mr. Callum, please think about this!"
"This horse is worth fifty million. You can't let some nobody use him as a guinea pig."
"She runs a tiny zoo. If she messes up, she can't pay for the damage."
Barry spoke up, his voice cold. "If anything goes wrong, Goodman Corp takes full responsibility."
The room went silent. Everyone knew Goodman Corp had the money to back that up.
Callum nodded firmly.
Barry looked at Nancy. "Go ahead."
Nancy led Cloud toward the operating room.
The observation area was packed with vets immediately. The monitors came on, showing the OR. Nancy stroked Cloud’s neck, checking the spot. "Cloud, is it in your front left leg?"
She ran her hand over the leg. When she hit a specific spot, Cloud tossed his head. "That's it! Right there. It actually kind of itches."
Nancy took a surgical marker and drew a precise X on the spot.
To the other vets, it looked like a joke.
"She’s not even using ultrasound? That's reckless."
"I've never seen prep this sloppy."
Inside, Nancy had changed into her scrubs and picked up a micro-scalpel. The moment she started, her demeanor changed completely. The blade moved like it was part of her hand.
With a quick, light prick, she made a tiny incision.
At the same time, she used a pair of forceps. In one motion, she clamped onto the titanium needle and pulled it out. It was fast and perfectly executed.
Nancy dropped the needle onto a tray and dressed the wound. She was calm, acting like it was the simplest thing in the world.
The whole thing took less than three minutes.
In the observation room, the vets were stunned. Nancy was already pulling off her gloves and heading to the sink.
"Is it over?"
"She pulled it out in minutes without any imaging?"
"Did I blink? I missed the whole thing."
When Nancy put the tray with the needle on the stand, the room went quiet. Everyone could see the hair-thin needle that had been causing all the trouble.
The Summers Corp experts turned bright red. One of them shoved his assistant. "Go! Tell Brandon and Ginnie to stop. It's done."
Next door, Brandon was still explaining an emergency plan to Ginnie in case Nancy hit an artery.
A frantic knock at the door stopped him.
"Ms. Ginnie! Professor Brandon! It's over!"
