The usually refined Jensen felt his expression darken upon hearing this. Suppressing his anger, his tone remained restrained yet exceptionally firm. "Soren, I'm afraid this arrangement is inappropriate."

"We promised Nancy first. How can we go back on our word?"

"Furthermore, these are public school resources; they should be allocated fairly."

Nancy stood to the side, deeply moved. She watched as Jensen, even after her graduation, was still willing to argue for his students' rights, even going as far as confronting the President.

Soren was somewhat wary of Jensen. Wiping the sweat from his brow, he explained, "Ginnie is currently a first-year graduate student at our school. If she constantly has to travel between the school and the hospital labs, it would be a massive waste of time, so I..."

Although Jensen was only the Vice President, his capabilities were outstanding. He handled most of the school's practical affairs, though his seniority was still relatively low, preventing further promotion.

Soren added quickly, "Actually, it doesn't have to be Laboratory A1. There are many other vacant labs right now."

"Nancy can pick any of them. I think Laboratory B2 is quite decent."

"The equipment in B2 is far inferior to A1!" Jensen's eyes were like torches, his tone calm but carrying an undeniable weight. "Soren, since you made a commitment, you shouldn't change it so easily. To be untrustworthy is to lose the respect of others."

Feeling increasingly guilty under that gaze, Soren hurried to say, "Tell you what, Nancy can choose from any laboratory in the School of Animal Medicine that isn't fully scheduled! I will help her apply for a rent waiver; the university's research fund will cover the costs!"

Soren pushed his laptop toward Nancy without haste. The list of vacant laboratories on the screen looked like a strictly graded table of authority. In the ownership column for Laboratory A1, Ginnie's name was prominently displayed.

But right at the top of the list, the status for Laboratory S1 clearly showed "Vacant," yet it was marked with five golden stars, highlighting its exceptional status.

Nancy's eyes lit up. Her fingertip lightly tapped that restricted area. "President, isn't S1 empty? Can I apply to use it? ...And can the rent be waived for that too?"

For a moment, the air in the office seemed to freeze. Soren let out a short, cold snort from his nose as if he had heard a ridiculous joke. "S1? You certainly have high ambitions."

He leaned forward slightly, his tone carrying undisguised irony. "If you actually have the ability to pass the application, I have the ability to waive your rent!" But do you really think that's a place you can touch?"

Beside them, Ginnie lowered her head and pursed her lips, a flicker of mockery crossing her eyes as well.

"But it's clearly vacant," Nancy said, puzzled. "Why can't it be used?"

At this point, Jensen spoke up in a low voice, his tone gentle and patient as he explained, "The school's laboratories are divided into four grades: S, A, B, and C. S is the highest level, and the smaller the number, the higher the grade. A1 is already the limit for what collaborative researchers within the school can use." He paused, his gaze sweeping over the gold-starred number. "S-class is only open to professors." Ordinary lecturers don't even have the authority to make a reservation."

Nancy understood; as expected of a professor-level laboratory, it was truly unique.

Just then, Jensen's voice sounded again, tinged with caution. "The allocation rights for Laboratory S1 are actually in the hands of Professor Nathan. If you want to use it, you must have his consent. However..." He paused slightly. "Professor Nathan has a bit of an eccentric temper and is quite proud. Previously, even an associate professor who frequently played cards with him applied for it and was flatly rejected."

The meaning was clear: even those close to him received no special treatment, let alone Nancy, who had no prior connection to Professor Nathan.

Seeing Nancy lost in thought, Jensen added kindly, "If you really want to try, I can pull some strings and help you contact Professor Nathan."
