Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 373: Sworn Loyalty
Nancy felt a wave of confusion.
A Golden Eagle might have a wingspan of over two meters, making her look like a tiny speck by comparison, but was that really a polite way to put it?
Master Crow seized the opportunity. He flew to the edge of the cage and lowered his voice, continuing to sell the dream.
"Hunter, you have to believe us now, right? Just join the Bird Gang and be the boss of our Northwest branch! With Nancy’s help, you can be just as majestic as that guy on the screen, commanding hundreds of birds!"
On the other end of the video call, the Golden Eagle at the agricultural base slowly spread his massive wings. Their boss finally spoke.
"Hunter, the sky is vast, but there are very few leaders worth following. Nancy offers more than just food and shelter; she gives us dignity. She is a brilliant animal doctor and might even be able to cure your condition. The path she points out allows every bird to reclaim the glory of the skies."
Nancy was surprised and deeply moved.
She had only met this eagle a few times through Master Crow. She never expected him to step up and back her like this at such a critical moment. This heavy recommendation, delivered with the grit of a veteran, was as unexpected as it was appreciated.
Master Crow immediately chimed in. "Plus, if you work for Nancy, you are on the official government payroll! We get to take down the bad guys and have the whole country cheering for us!"
Hunter stared at the disciplined raptor legion on the screen before looking back at the human with the warm smile.
His sharp talons shifted as he reined in his aggressive aura. "I am in."
Nancy looked at the staff and nodded, her tone calm and steady. "Please open the cage. I want to spend some time with Hunter so we can get used to each other."
"Don't be ridiculous!"
The falconer barked his protest immediately. "Buddy, this isn't a game! A Golden Eagle’s talons can rip through cowhide like it is paper. A novice like you is just asking for trouble by trying to act tough!"
Since no one else could understand the animals, Nancy’s exchange with Hunter had sounded like gibberish to them. They had no idea she had already won the bird over in less than thirty minutes. They assumed she was just being reckless.
A staff member jumped in, sounding frantic. "You really cannot rush this. Every one of our keepers has been attacked by him. This eagle is wild and dangerous; he will definitely make you pay for this. You have only been here a short while. At the very least, observe him for a few more days."
Amidst the wave of opposition, Simon walked to Nancy's side and looked at the staff.
"Open the door."
His voice carried absolute trust. "If anything happens, I will take full responsibility. I will not let this bird harm her."
Upon hearing this, Graham immediately led a squad of soldiers forward, forming a solid human wall around the enclosure.
His voice boomed like a bell. "Nancy is our guest, and protecting her is our job! Open the cage now!"
Nancy was already certain Hunter would not hurt her, but seeing Simon, Graham, and the soldiers stand before her without a second thought sent a warm current through her heart.
Under the watchful, worried eyes of the crowd, the staff finally pulled the cage door open.
What happened next left everyone speechless.
Hunter walked out of the cage with steady, heavy steps. He did not take flight, and he did not attack. Instead, he lowered his head and gently touched Nancy’s palm with his majestic beak. Then, he spread his broad wings like a knight swearing an oath of fealty, bowing his proud head before her.
"How... how is this even possible?" The falconer could hardly believe his eyes.
"You have only been with him for half an hour! For professional like us, taming an eagle takes at least ten days to two weeks just to get them to recognize us. How did you do this?"
Graham stood with his arms crossed, smiling at the shocked man. "It looks like your thousand year old traditions might need an update in the face of our young expert."
His tone was peaceful, but his words cut straight through the foundation of everything the falconer believed in.
The falconer’s face turned beet red. His skepticism had vanished, replaced by pure, unadulterated admiration. Faced with such a powerhouse, he could not even feel annoyed; he only wanted to learn from her.
He stepped forward, his tone urgent and respectful. "The Golden Eagle I have at home has been pecking at its own feathers for no reason lately. I have tried every traditional method and nothing works. Could you please tell me what is going on?"
As he spoke, he actually pulled out his pay envelope and tried to shove it toward Nancy. "You have to take this consultant fee. Consider it my tuition!"
In the middle of the commotion, a small gerbil suddenly darted out from a corner. It scurried up Nancy’s shoulder and squeaked urgently into her ear. "Found them! The villains have been spotted in the valley. They are moving some iron crates that are flashing with red lights!"
