Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 365: The Witness In The Wild

4 min 1 views

Nancy’s new plan was to take in animals from wildlife rescue centers or those abandoned by other zoos due to behavioral issues. With her ability to understand them, she was confident she could provide the rehabilitation they needed to start over.

Currently, she was in talks with the Northwest Wildlife Rescue Center regarding a highly aggressive lynx they had recently captured.

The animal didn't attack just anyone. It specifically targeted a military photographer, tracking him relentlessly and eventually tearing into his arm. The behavior was so erratic and persistent that the authorities had been forced to trap it.

Nancy wanted to find the real motive behind the attacks, and the military was just as eager to solve the mystery. Ten minutes from now, she would have her first video call with the rebellious feline.

Nancy tapped her cheeks, feeling a mix of nerves and anticipation. The moment the call connected, a low, menacing snarl vibrated through the speakers.

A sturdy female lynx was pacing fitfully inside a reinforced enclosure. Her paws, which looked like oversized plush snow boots, hidden sharp claws that were currently digging into the heavy timber bars. The wood was already shredded, with splinters littering the floor.

While they looked fluffy, a lynx had enough jaw pressure to snap an arm bone and claws capable of severing tendons in a single swipe.

"You murderers! You killed my kitten... and now you lock me in here!"

The lynx’s cry hit Nancy like a physical blow. Her kitten had been killed?

An onsite staff member leaned toward the camera to explain. "Ms. Nancy, this is the one. She’s attacked multiple people, but it’s strange. She only goes for those carrying camera gear. She isn't eating or drinking, and her mental state is deteriorating fast."

Suddenly, a steady, commanding voice came from off-camera. "What’s the status?"

The staff member stepped aside. "Captain Rex, Ms. Nancy is on the line."

A man with a rigid posture and a hardened, disciplined aura walked into the frame. He gave Nancy a sharp nod. "Ms. Nancy, I’m Graham Rex, one of the officers in charge of the Northwest sector."

Graham signaled for the injured journalist, Logan Paul, to step forward. Logan’s left arm was encased in a thick layer of plaster, making it look like a white club.

The moment the lynx saw him, she began franticly clawing at the door, sending wood chips flying. Logan was a seasoned military reporter used to drills and combat zones, but he was still baffled. "Ms. Nancy, why is she obsessed with me? She’s hunting me like we have some blood feud!"

"Let me out! I want to tear this monster apart! I’ll have my revenge for my baby!"

Nancy asked the staff to move the phone closer to the cage. She spoke in a gentle, soothing tone. "Are you saying Logan killed your kitten?"

The lynx stopped mid-swipe, her tufted ears twitching with suspicion. "This glowing box... the human inside can understand me?"

By now, Nancy had walked from the director's office to the snow leopard enclosure. Silver Blade, the leopard Nancy had saved during a difficult birth, padded over. She let out a low, vibrating purr toward the screen. "Buddy, trust her. She understands us. I was dying during labor and she saved me. If you’ve been wronged, tell her."

Though they were different species, both were felines that shared the same rugged Northwest terrain. They could communicate through a mix of scents, sounds, and basic body language.

Silver Blade’s presence calmed the lynx slightly. Still breathing heavily, she began her story in broken pieces.

"I came back from hunting to feed my cub. I saw a human using a giant, buzzing black bird in the sky. He had a shiny square box in his hands."

Nancy had spent enough time with animals to translate their descriptions instantly. The black bird was a drone; the box was a camera.

"That human kicked my baby. By the time I reached him, my kitten wouldn't move anymore!" The lynx’s pupils contracted with grief. "The human heard me scream and jumped onto a loud, rumbling metal frame to escape. I only saw his back."

She extended a claw, pointing it venomously toward Logan. "The next day, this human showed up with the same buzzing black insect and the shiny box! Right where my baby was murdered!"
