Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 324: The Trap
Nancy let out a sigh and shook her head with a look of fake regret. "That’s a shame. I actually finished the revisions for the dog food line, but it sounds like you all aren't interested."
The room went dead silent.
Ginnie had told them she only sent over the mess of an original proposal three days ago. A team of world-class nutritionists had been stuck on those flaws for weeks. Now Nancy was claiming she’d fixed the whole thing in three days.
The shareholders who were just shouting a second ago suddenly went quiet. They told her to wait and tried to smooth things over. Pride was one thing, but they were desperate to recoup their losses. If there was money on the table, they could swallow a little insult.
Yvonne sat at the head of the table and seized the opening. "Nancy, since you’ve prepared a plan, why don't we let the nutrition team take a look?"
Nancy stopped walking. She turned and handed the documents to the lead foreign nutritionist.
Standing at the front of the room, she began to outline her logic. She was sharp and precise. She used industry terms naturally and broke down complex biology so clearly that even the laypeople in the room could follow along.
The whispering stopped entirely. Every eye was on her. She spoke with a calm authority that made her seem to own the room. Ginnie watched from the sidelines, her jaw tight with envy.
When Nancy finished, the nutritionists huddled for a quick talk. Their faces lit up.
"This is brilliant. It breaks every convention we’ve been struggling with."
The lead expert explained that she kept the Nostoc sphaeroides as the core selling point. But the new ratios and processing techniques improved the absorption rate for pets significantly.
Nancy looked down to hide her real expression when she heard them mention the algae. Nostoc sphaeroides was the centerpiece of Ginnie’s original marketing strategy. It was a rare protein source that promoted muscle growth in dogs and didn't trigger allergies.
In this entire province, the only place that produced it in bulk was Sanction Peaks.
Not long ago, Master Crow had been scouting for recruits around Sanction Peaks. While he was there, he overheard some pond frogs talking. They were complaining that the jellyfish in the rivers were thinning out. The Nostoc seeds that relied on them were failing.
On the surface, production looked normal. But Nancy knew that within a few months, the supply would drop off a cliff. The Summers Group's new product would be stranded without its star ingredient. By then, her consultancy would be over. She would be long gone with their money.
She had built this entire rescue plan the moment Ginnie called her. It wasn't a collaboration. It was a targeted hit.
"Nancy’s final product will outperform the original plan by a landslide," the lead expert told Yvonne. "This isn't just a revision. This is a total upgrade."
The shareholders sat in stunned silence. Their previous contempt had turned into a burning sense of awkwardness.
Nancy pulled herself out of her thoughts and put on a perfectly harmless smile. She looked at Yvonne with wide, expectant eyes. "I hope the plan didn't disappoint you, Aunt Yvonne."
She paused immediately. Her eyelids fluttered as if she had made a clumsy mistake. Her voice turned timid. "I'm so sorry. I’m just so used to calling you that. I shouldn't have been so forward."
Yvonne’s face broke into a warm, maternal smile. It was flawless. "It’s quite alright. You can still call me that. In my heart, you’ll always be family."
Nancy suppressed a cold sneer while looking moved to tears on the outside.
The lead nutritionist didn't give them time for a family reunion. He turned to Yvonne urgently. "We have to sign Ms. Nancy as a consultant immediately. With her leading the project, I’m confident we won't just take the market. We’ll stun the whole industry."
With the experts giving the green light, the shareholders shut up. All they cared about now was getting the product to market so they could start seeing their dividends again.
Ginnie stood there and couldn't get a word in. Her chest was tight with bitterness. She had suspected Nancy was only here to sabotage them, but the reaction of these top-tier nutritionists couldn't be faked. Nancy’s plan was actually perfect.
A messy cocktail of relief and intense jealousy washed over her. It only got worse when she saw the look of genuine admiration Yvonne was giving Nancy.
