Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 483: The First Tier
His tone smoothed out, radiating a much sharper interest. "I understand completely. Calling at this hour on New Year's Eve is a major intrusion on my part. Since a meeting is out of the question today, perhaps you could introduce your collection to me first? I am incredibly curious about the stories and the value behind your pieces. If they are as exceptional as the rumors suggest, we can certainly finalize the intent today. The specific transaction details can wait until after the holiday."
The proposal was perfectly calculated. It played directly into Kurt's vanity and greed while bypassing the immediate problem of him having to leave the house.
Kurt glanced back at Flowie and the blind woman on the floor. He stayed silent for a few seconds, clearly weighing his options. Ultimately, his obsession with profit won out. He looked at the helpless Flowie and the bound victim and decided he could manage a quick phone call.
"Fine," he said, his voice like ice. "I will go to my study and give you a detailed rundown."
What could go wrong with a simple phone call? Kurt thought to himself. It was New Year's Eve; no cop would actually be staking out his house just because of a few viral videos about dead fish. Besides, he was confident he had scrubbed every trace of evidence. His villa security was top tier. Any breach would trigger an immediate, deafening alarm.
Kurt pressed the mute button.
On the surveillance monitors, the officers watched as Kurt moved with brutal efficiency. He dragged the limp, terrified Flowie and the bound woman together into a nearby bedroom.
He leaned in close to Flowie, his voice dripping with venom. "Stay put. I am going to take this call. When I come back, I either see that she has stopped breathing, or..."
He paused, letting the threat sink in.
"You both go on a one way trip together. Do you understand?"
From the bedroom came Flowie’s muffled sobs and the violent, thumping struggles of the other woman. Kurt ignored them, straightened his collar, and picked up the phone. He unmuted the call as he walked toward the study, his voice shifting from violent rage to a practiced, haughty professional tone.
"Alright, I am in my study now. Which piece of my collection caught your eye?"
The countdown for a life or death rescue had begun.
Inside the Dimsdale police command van, the atmosphere was at a breaking point.
"Nancy," the SWAT captain said, his brow deeply furrowed as he studied the architectural diagrams provided by drones and thermal imaging. "The situation is a nightmare. Kurt’s front door is a custom reinforced security model. Every window is fitted with recessed explosion proof glass and locked from the inside. Based on our estimates, even with a battering ram, it would take seven to eight minutes for a forced entry. That is more than enough time for the suspect to kill everyone inside."
With hostages involved, every second spent preparing for a breach was a death sentence.
Nancy stared at the images on the tablet. "Opening it from the outside is next to impossible. But what if the door opens from the inside?"
The Dimsdale officers knew Nancy was about to pull something off. "Just say the word. Our teams are in position."
Outside the villa, a silent net had been cast. Undercover vehicles and sniper posts were set, with infrared dots flickering almost invisibly against the dark stone. The air was thick with a lethal silence.
"Murder, false imprisonment, suspected organ trafficking..."
The scene commander whispered the charges over the channel. "It is New Year's Eve. If we close this case, our people can actually have a peaceful holiday. Medals are one thing, but more importantly..."
He paused. "We can stop a monster and make sure this holiday doesn't end in a bloodbath."
The nature of the case had alerted the highest levels. Because the intelligence provided by Nancy and the animals was so accurate, support was arriving at high speed. A remote command link had been established with incredible efficiency.
The entire villa complex appeared peaceful, but it was a cage. For now, the human officers had to stay hidden. The first tier of the assault would be the animal allies already in place.
"All units, stay sharp," the commander’s voice dropped to a low rasp. "Furry Team goes first. Human teams, stand by for the entry signal and strike immediately! Snipers, keep a lock on the study window. If he makes a move to harm the hostages, you are authorized to neutralize him."
Every officer held their breath, waiting with a mix of curiosity and tension to see the animal team in action. Nearby, technical officers were carefully fitting micro equipment onto a sparrow and a pair of squirrels, moving with extreme care to avoid hurting the little recruits.
Nancy’s voice came through the comms, sharp and focused. "Sparrow, move in through the east slats on the second floor. Keep a lock on the study. I need eyes on Kurt's every move. Do not lose him."
