Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 380: Blood Debt And Judgment

"What the hell! Where did these wolves come from!"

"They were supposed to be on the soldiers, not us!" Hawk’s voice cracked with panic.

Blades fumbled for his sonic jammer, his hands shaking so hard he could barely hold it. "Get the other one! Drive them back!"

The high frequency shriek tore through the air again. The pack growled, their ears pinning back in irritation.

"Boss! These bastards are using that noise machine again!"

Nancy’s voice came through the comms, cold and flat. "Copy that. We are shutting them down." She switched channels. "Take out the handhelds."

A hundred yards away, Simon was a ghost in the snow. His breathing was slow and steady, his body completely camouflaged. Through the scope, he watched the spies scramble.

Zip! Crack!

The jammer in Blades' hand exploded into plastic shards. Hawk froze, but before he could reat, Zip! Crack!

A second shot turned his device into scrap. The muffled reports of the suppressed rifle left the two men paralyzed.

"Sniper!" Blades wheezed, his voice trembling.

Terror locked them down. They did not dare move a muscle, terrified the next sound they heard would be a bullet hitting bone. The wolves took the opening and tightened the circle without a sound.

Soldiers moved in from the shadows a moment later, pinning Hawk and slapping on the cuffs. Just as another soldier went for Blades, the man’s wrist flickered. A hidden throwing knife slid into his palm as he lunged for the nearest guard.

A golden blur hit him from the side. The lynx slammed into Blades, his claws fueled by years of rage.

Blades screamed as the knife flew wide. Deep gashes opened up on his arm, the red blood staining the snow. He looked up and locked eyes with a pair of amber pupils burning with hatred.

"You... a lynx?!" Blades' eyes went wide. A memory hit him. This cat looked exactly like a grown version of the kitten he had killed years ago for being in his way.

"I know that smell. You killed my cub."

A low, pained growl vibrated in the lynx’s throat. The killing intent was heavy enough to feel. He bared his fangs, aiming right for the throat. Every soldier held their breath, and Nancy took a step forward.

At the last second, the lynx stopped.

He pinned Blades into the snow with a heavy paw and let out a long, mournful howl toward the peaks. He leaned down, his voice a low snarl against the man’s face.

"I won't kill you. Not because I forgive you, but because your blood is too filthy to offer to my child. The humans will give you the judgment you deserve."

The lynx pulled back and stepped toward Nancy, leaving the broken man for the soldiers.

Nancy knelt down and wrapped her arms around the lynx’s shivering body. She brushed her fingers through the thick fur on his neck. "It is over. You did great. Truly."

Her hands were red and raw from the cold, but the lynx covered them with his own warm, furry paws. He pressed his heated pads against her skin.

"Your hands are like ice. My cub used to wait for me just like this so I could keep him warm."

Nancy felt a lump in her throat. The lynx looked at her and raised a paw, placing it gently on her head like a protective mother.

"Human," he said, his voice rough but soft. "You did a good job today, too."

Snow fell silently on his fur and Nancy’s eyelashes.

As they were led away, the two spies looked back in shock. The wolves were now sitting tamely beside the soldiers, some even wagging their tails.

How was this possible? Were the wolves trained by the military? Had Dracovian animal handling really reached the point where they could recruit wild packs into special ops?

The thought sent a chill through them. If the military could command the mountain with this much precision, the rest of their crew was already finished.
