Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 460: The King of Eagles
The middle aged man in Oroqen attire stood beside Barry. He looked up and pressed two fingers to his lips, letting out a long, piercing whistle that cut through the wind and snow.
Before the sound could fade, two sharp cries tore through the low hanging sky.
Two iron gray shadows shot down from the clouds like arrows. Their wingspan was staggering, and they brought with them a biting gust of wind as they descended.
These were Gyrfalcons, the birds revered by the ancient tribes of the Northeast as the God of All Eagles.
They performed a graceful mid air deceleration before landing with pinpoint precision. One settled firmly on the leather guard covering Barry’s forearm, while the other landed on the arm of the Oroqen hunter.
Barry urged his horse forward a few steps to stand before Nancy. He leaned down, allowing the Gyrfalcon on his arm to hop onto a perch beside her.
"Nancy, I brought you some outside help."
Behind the crowd, Tammy stood silently in the wind. Her gaze fell on the moment Barry leaned down to present the bird to her daughter. Her cold lips curled into a faint, almost imperceptible smile.
Nancy’s attention was entirely captivated by the magnificent bird. She watched the Gyrfalcon settle on the wooden crossbar near her, her breathing hitching as her eyes sparkled with excitement.
This was a Gyrfalcon, the ultimate hunting partner of the ancient nomadic tribes.
She glanced at the Oroqen clansmen and leaned slightly closer to Barry on his horse. "My god... Barry, how did you get them to come down from the mountains?"
The Oroqen hunters, who guarded ancient traditions and lived deep in the wilderness, rarely ventured down for outsiders.
Barry looked down into her curious eyes, his voice steady. "My company has always worked with the mountain tribes. We consistently purchase the high quality wild medicinal herbs they gather. We are trusted partners."
He glanced back at the solemn hunters. "Besides, I told them a gifted animal communicator appeared down here, someone who does not need the long, grueling training process to share a soul connection with animals. They were all curious to see your skills for themselves."
The Gyrfalcon beside Nancy tilted its head, its sharp amber eyes sizing her up.
Seeing this, Barry dismounted and walked through the snow to her. Without a word, he naturally unfastened the thick, exquisite leather glove from his arm. He carefully lifted Nancy’s wrist and fitted the glove onto her hand.
Although his status prevented him from participating in the police operation, he could at least ensure these two reliable giants were by her side in his place.
"The one next to you," Barry said softly as he adjusted the buckles on the glove, "is named Lucky."
Once it was secure, Barry stepped back and turned toward the middle aged hunter and the even more majestic Gyrfalcon on his arm.
"The other one is Harmony." He turned back to Nancy, a faint trace of a smile in his eyes. "He is a partner for your brother. These two grew up together and share a deep bond. With their help, you and Officer Simon will have much better coordination during aerial reconnaissance."
He paused, looking at the proud, bright eyed Harmony. "However, Harmony is more arrogant. He does not take to people easily. Getting him to cooperate will depend on your ability."
His gaze returned to Nancy’s face, the smile in his eyes deepening as his voice dropped to a level only the two of them could understand. "It is also a chance to let our Oroqen friends see what a Beast Whisperer can really do."
Nancy met his eyes and then glanced at the proud Harmony. She curled her lips into a bright, confident smile.
"No problem," she chirped. "Just watch me."
She walked over to the middle aged man. The experienced hunter and his companions watched the slender girl with curious but peaceful expressions.
Nancy fixed her gaze on the raptor perched on the hunter’s arm. Harmony was puffing out his chest with an air of immense dignity.
"Harmony," Nancy said softly, her tone as familiar as if she were greeting an old friend. "It has been a long time since you really hunted, has it not? You have not caught anything live in quite a while, have you?"
Her first sentence struck right at Harmony’s sore spot.
His golden pupils instantly lit up. He tilted his head, his tone carrying the excitement of a veteran being called back to duty. "You are not kidding! I have been retired from the hunting roster for ages!"
