Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 184: Stolen Life
The two of them walked into the night with their furry companions, chatting and laughing as their figures gradually melted into the warm glow of the streetlights. Jack stood where he was, watching their relaxed departure, and unconsciously clenched his fists.
On the way back, Nancy and Simon headed toward the school gates. Her eyes inadvertently swept across the electronic screen outside the Administration Building, and her footsteps came to a sudden halt. Ginnie's photo was displayed prominently on the screen, accompanied by bold text: Special Guest for the Opening Ceremony: Ginnie.
Nancy furrowed her brow and continued walking, only to see even more conspicuous promotional banners set up in front of the School of Animal Medicine. Not only were they printed with Ginnie's elegant, smiling image, but they also featured large characters announcing that she would visit the college for a special lecture following the Opening Ceremony to introduce Summers Corp Veterinary Hospital and its latest breakthrough pet vaccine.
A few girls setting up the banners looked up at the posters, whispering with eyes full of admiration.
"Wow, Ginnie is so beautiful. She's the definition of beauty and brains!"
"She was admitted with the highest score among the graduate students, and now she's already leading vaccine research. That's incredible!"
"I heard their new vaccine is exceptionally mild with almost no side effects. It's like a mosquito bite for the animals. That is so cool!"
Hearing the conversation, Nancy raised an eyebrow in surprise. She had only just realized that Ginnie was not only a graduate student at Townsville University but would also be speaking as an outstanding representative at the Opening Ceremony and holding a lecture on the new vaccine.
At that moment, the voices of the girls drifted over again. One girl whispered with total adoration, "I heard Ginnie was fast-tracked straight to a PhD. A true scholar!"
Another tilted her head curiously. "Where did she do her undergraduate studies?"
The third lowered her voice, sounding mysterious. "I'm not entirely sure. But rumor has it Ginnie is actually the biological daughter of the Chairman of Summers Corp. She was swapped at birth. She grew up in an ordinary family, got into our graduate school through her own hard work, and was only recently recognized by her real family."
The first girl's eyes widened. "Oh my god, then her life was held back for so many years..."
"Exactly!" the second girl scoffed. "The fake heiress who took her place... I think her name was Nancy? She graduated from our school too, but then went to study at the Royal Veterinary College in Europe and got a dual degree. It's like she stole Ginnie's life."
The last girl sighed with regret. "If Ginnie hadn't been swapped, with her family's resources, she definitely could have studied at a top veterinary school in the world!"
Walking side by side with Nancy, Simon witnessed the whole scene and frowned slightly. "Before Ginnie was brought back by the Summers family, she didn't exactly seem to love studying. Now that she's back with them, she's suddenly transformed into a diligent scholar..."
Just then, Jensen hurried out of the teaching building carrying his briefcase. He had clearly overheard the girls' discussion as well. Jensen stopped in his tracks and spoke to the three students with a stern expression. "Students, do not discuss things you don't understand. Ginnie is not a student I supervise, so I cannot speak for her. But Nancy was the first—and currently only—student in our entire southern region to successfully apply for a government-sponsored exchange at the Royal Veterinary College."
"She achieved that through her own outstanding grades and research capabilities. She received a full national scholarship; her family didn't need to provide a single cent." Jensen adjusted his glasses and added solemnly, "A government-sponsored exchange not only waives all tuition fees but also covers visa costs, round-trip airfare, and a monthly living allowance. Only top-tier talents who pass a rigorous selection process receive such a spot."
The three girls were stunned. One whispered in shock, "That's amazing... then why didn't the school invite this Nancy back to give a speech?"
Jensen shook his head slightly, a hint of regret in his tone. "We did contact her before the summer break, but Nancy was attending a global veterinary academic symposium at the time."
The girls were even more breathless—that was one of the highest-level academic conferences in the industry!
Jensen continued, "Nancy was participating as a representative. It was impossible to coordinate the timing, so she had to decline the invitation."
Standing not far away, Nancy was momentarily dazed. She remembered the Alumni Association contacting her during that period while she was presenting her research results at the international conference. By the time she had returned home full of honors, Ginnie, the real heiress, was already at her door for the showdown. The series of upheavals that followed had left Nancy completely exhausted.
