Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 405: The Wrong Audience
"As for their promotion and distribution, it’s nothing but a pipe dream. By then, they won't even have time to cry."
The lead actor lowered his voice, a cold, calculating smirk playing on his lips. "Once we finish filming and get our checks, the audience will forget everything. We’ll just dump all the blame on the production team and walk away as the same untainted stars we’ve always been."
Hearing this, the lead actress felt her sense of superiority return. She shot a judgmental look at the busy short-drama crew nearby. "Exactly. What kind of waves can a pathetic outfit like Sicily possibly make? Look at their setup. They don't even have a decent trailer. Unlike us..."
Her words were cut short by the roar of engines in the distance.
At the edge of the desert highway, a massive fleet was approaching the set. It wasn't just luxury coffee trucks and catering vans; there were several brand-new motorhomes gleaming under the desert sun.
The lead actors’ eyes lit up, and they immediately straightened their backs.
"Our fans must be here for a support event!"
The lead actress hurriedly checked her makeup, a smug, satisfied smile crossing her face.
"That’s Neo Summers Corp for you. The power of capital is on another level. With the company handling our PR and burying the negative press, the incidents from the last few days are nothing but a scratch. In this industry, talent is useless. In the end, it all comes down to who has the bigger backers."
She shot a disdainful look at the Sicily crew. "Let these nobodies see what real influence looks like."
The lead actor smoothed out his costume. "Exactly. I’ll post something on Twitter later to play the victim. I’ll say the production was disorganized and the actors suffered for it. The fans will be heartbroken. Once the public narrative shifts, no one will remember what happened a few days ago."
The lead actress watched the approaching luxury fleet, her eyes sparkling. "The fans must be worried about us suffering out here. Want to bet whose fans showed up in greater force?"
The two of them hurried forward to meet the fleet, calling out to the Dessert Route staff as they went. "Everyone, hard work pays off! Our fans are here to take care of us. Come grab a drink and take a break!"
The Dessert Route crew, who had been dejected and overworked for days, suddenly perked up at the sight of the grand procession.
"Wow! Look at that setup!"
"That’s a top-tier star for you. This support event is insane! Even in the middle of this godforsaken desert, they can pull this off."
"Finally, some decent coffee and milk tea..."
The Dessert Route employees rushed forward to welcome the fleet with open arms.
On the other side, several young actors from the short-drama crew couldn't help but look on with envy.
One actor, who had just finished a desert chase scene, sighed softly while stitching a tear in his costume. "Must be nice. I barely have a few thousand followers. Who knows if I’ll ever be that famous."
However, just as the Dessert Route crew prepared to swarm the trucks, ten formidable bodyguards in black suits stepped out of the three black sedans at the rear, immediately blocking their path.
The Dessert Route staff froze. Looking at the highly trained security team, someone whispered, "Since when do fan events come with professional security? Are they afraid we’re going to steal the coffee?"
"What... what is this?" a stagehand muttered, pulling back. "Do we need to line up? We’ll line up."
The lead actor, Kevin Bacon, assumed the bodyguards were simply unfamiliar with him. He straightened his collar, flashed his most iconic celebrity smile, and stepped forward.
"Gentlemen, I’m the lead, Kevin Bacon. These are the senior staff members from the Dessert Route production."
Kevin turned slightly to ensure the guards got a clear look at his face. "We aren't part of that pathetic little crew next door."
The lead actress, Jenna Marbles, glided over as well. She elegantly tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, her tone dripping with condescending grace. "Were you sent by my fans or Kevin’s? It must have been a long trip to bring us these supplies. We appreciate the effort. We’ve set aside some time for signed photos and group shots to thank everyone for organizing such a thoughtful event."
The lead bodyguard remained expressionless. He reached out and unceremoniously shoved Kevin and Jenna aside, signaling his team to clear a path through the rest of the crew.
"What gave you the impression any of this was for you?"
The bodyguard’s voice was flat and harsh. "Check your ego."
He turned and pointed. The prominent Goodman Corp logo on the coffee truck shimmered in the sun. The vehicle was covered in adorable stickers of the Loren Zoo animals and a stylized cartoon of Nancy.
"If you can't read the signs, you shouldn't be out in the sun!"
The bodyguard’s voice was laced with pure mockery. "This is a delivery from Mr. Goodman, specifically for Nancy and the Sanddune production!"
