Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 75: The Serpent Of Culture

5 min 1 views

Nancy couldn't help but wonder why the snake, which had been so desperate to escape moments ago, had undergone such a sudden personality shift.

Was it really just the promise of new furniture?

That didn't seem to fit the nature of a venomous pit viper. Nancy decided she’d better keep her guard up.

However, she soon discovered the real reason behind Mist’s sudden docility.

The revelation came while Nancy was conducting a checkup on Caesar, the black panther in the Jungle Pavilion. Mist began to writhe excitedly against Nancy’s ear, whispering in a frantic hiss.

"Oh my goodness... look at that sleek, glossy fur! Look at those powerful, long legs!"

Mist stared at the panther’s fluid muscle lines, twisting herself into a knot of excitement. "Hiss!"

Nancy pulled back, terrified Mist’s drool might actually drip onto her hand. She used a pair of tweezers to gently poke the snake’s head. "Hey, wipe your mouth. You’re a cold-blooded, deadly serpent, not a golden retriever!"

As they left the Jungle Pavilion, Mist climbed onto Nancy’s shoulder to cast one last, lingering look back at the black panther. "Goodbye, my dark prince! I'll visit you next time!"

Later, when Nancy was preparing a nutritional meal for the emaciated tiger in the Tiger Enclosure, Mist grew impatient. She hissed at Nancy to hurry up and move on to the next animal. "Hurry up! There's nothing to see about that skeleton! My dark prince is much better!"

The truth was out.

This white snake was a total flirt. She had a weakness for high-end aesthetics and powerful physiques.

Was this even normal?

Nancy reasonably suspected that Mist’s depression in her enclosure wasn't just about the lack of space—it was a lack of eye candy.

Throughout the rest of the rounds, Mist chattered away like a broken record.

"That deer is majestic! The antlers look like a crown! I really want to coil up in it. The snow leopard looks terrifying. Oh, that tourist looks good. I wish to give him a bite, just so he could notice me."

By the time they reached the last turtle, Nancy was dizzy from Mist’s constant commentary. Just as she finished checking the turtle's shell, her phone rang. it was Jonas.

"We’re flying out the day after tomorrow," Jonas said, his voice clear and resonant. "The whole team wants to take you out to dinner tonight to show our gratitude. Are you free?"

The moment Mist heard the masculine voice over the phone, her tail flicked with interest.

Nancy, always happy for a free meal, grinned. "I am! That sounds great."

Jonas laughed. "You can come by the training center first to check it out. We’ll all head to the restaurant together on the team bus afterward."

"I can actually come inside?" Nancy asked, surprised. "Can I watch you guys train?"

"Sure. Just call Ryan when you get here."

Nancy hung up and looked at the snake coiled around her arm. "Alright, Mist. I’ve taken you around the zoo all day. It’s time for you to go—"

She stopped, startled by the predatory, hungry look in Mist’s eyes. The snake gripped her arm tighter than ever. "Miss Nancy!"

Mist’s tiny eyes were gleaming with an intense light. "I want to tag along too!"

Swimmers were famous for having incredible physiques.

Nancy instinctively refused. "No way. You’ll scare them to death!"

Mist’s arrogant "Queen of the Serpent" persona was gone, replaced by desperate fawning. She wiggled her body in a pleading dance. "Please I'll do anything! I'll stay in your pocket, and only steal a glance from afar! Just a glance, please, and I'll be fine."

Nancy remained firm. "Absolutely not. What if someone panics? They’re flying out in two days for a major competition. I can't be responsible for traumatizing the national team."

Mist began to act like a spoiled child. "Then I won't leave you alone!"

Relenting under the snake’s persistence, Nancy called Ryan to ask for his opinion.

To her surprise, Ryan agreed. "It’s fine. These kids grew up around the water; most of them have dealt with snakes at some point. Besides, I heard the Loren Zoo has a legendary white snake. Is that her? I just asked the guys, and they all want to see the 'White Queen' for themselves."

"Did you hear that? Even the swimmers want to bear witness to my beauty!"

Mist flicked her tail triumphantly.

"Fine, fine. You’re the prettiest, you’re the best."

Nancy grabbed a ventilated travel carrier and took a cab to the swimming base with Mist. Along the way, Mist was practically buzzing with excitement. "Here I come handsome muscular men!"

Nancy covered her face with her hand. She was just glad no one else could understand this perverted snake’s ramblings.

When they arrived, an assistant coach gave Nancy a tour of the facilities. Ryan wasn't there to greet her personally. "One of the swimmers is struggling with his form," the assistant explained. "Ryan is giving him a bit of a lecture."

Nancy felt a bit worried. The national team was under immense pressure from the public to perform well.

As they entered the training area, Nancy was momentarily dazed by the sight. By the edge of the turquoise pool, the swimmers were lined up listening to Ryan’s critique.

Glistening droplets of water slid down their broad, muscular chests, tracing the deep lines of their abs before disappearing beneath their waistlines. Under the bright lights, the young athletes radiated vitality, every muscle a testament to power and grace.

Their perfect V-tapered silhouettes were enough to give Nancy a nosebleed.

As for Mist in the carrier, she was losing her mind. Her head was pressed so hard against the mesh she looked like she wanted to burst through and coil herself directly around someone’s torso. "Gosh… This is heaven!"

Nancy only allowed herself a few glances before focusing on the swimmer Ryan was scolding. "If you keep this up, you're going to drag the whole relay team down."
