Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 428: The Hidden Entry
The movements were silent, and with the thick sea fog reducing visibility to near zero, it would have been impossible to defend against.
The dolphin nodded and continued its description. Its narrative carried the raw tension of a witness at a crime scene. "Then, there were noises coming from inside the big iron boat. The person in the black suit was very strong. He dragged the man who couldn't move over to a square iron lid at the back of the boat. He opened the lid."
Samantha knew the construction of the patrol boat inside out. Hearing Nancy’s translation of the dolphin’s clicks, she reacted instantly. "The square iron lid at the stern... that is the freshwater tank!"
The dolphin’s tone turned fearful. "The bad man pushed the officer's head into that hole. I saw water splashing. The officer's legs kicked a few times, and then he stopped moving."
Its pitch dropped, carrying the primal weight that animals feel toward death.
"He must have... died."
With the dolphin’s testimony, the cause of Dan’s death was suddenly clear. The killer had dragged him to the freshwater tank and drowned him there.
Nancy caught a crucial detail. "Little dolphin, you mentioned that while the killer was attacking Dan, there were noises coming from inside the cabin. Do you know anything more about that?"
The dolphin flicked its tail fin, looking like a gossip who had already done the legwork.
"I was curious, so I went and asked! I swam down to talk to the small fish living in the cracks of the boat’s hull."
It mimicked the high, thin voices of the small fish. "The little fish said there was another bad man under the water. He used something like big pliers to unscrew a round valve cover on the hull. Then he crawled through that opening and went inside the boat!"
A dolphin’s memory is extraordinary, far surpassing that of a human. They can even recognize the whistles of companions they haven't seen in twenty years. Recalling details from three years ago was a simple task for them.
The deep gray dolphin grew serious as it added the second half of what the fish had seen.
"After he finished his bad business, he crawled back out through that hole. He pulled out a stick that made fire and bubbles and sealed that round cover back tight before swimming away."
The killers were a pair of divers. One struck the cabin crew while the other dealt with the officer on deck.
As Nancy translated the testimony, the intelligence was transmitted in real time to the Elite Training Base in Bellwood.
Inside the briefing hall, the tension was at a breaking point.
The officers sat in their groups, eyes wide and ears straining to catch every word of Nancy’s translation, terrified of missing a single lead.
In the front row, Marcus sat with his four veteran partners, their analysis moving at a breakneck pace.
"The dolphin mentioned a stick that made fire and bubbles," Marcus said, tapping his finger on the desk. "That is underwater welding. Sparks hitting water create massive amounts of bubbles and bright light. This proves there were at least two killers who entered the cabin through a submerged entry point in the hull!"
One of his partners immediately picked up the thread. "That explains the locked-room mystery surrounding Harold and Maine."
"The killers never used the doors. They entered through the bottom, committed the murders, left the way they came, and welded the entrance shut behind them."
"Exactly," another added. "The Seabed-173 was an old vessel with plenty of repair marks on the hull. It would have been incredibly easy to overlook that possibility during the initial investigation."
Someone raised a doubt. "But underwater welding... that requires an extremely high level of skill, doesn't it?"
"It is elite level," Marcus said, his eyes sharp. "But that is exactly why the profile of the killers is becoming clearer. They aren't ordinary criminals. They are experts who understand diving, ship structures, and professional underwater operations."
The logic clicked, and the people around him looked on with a mix of realization and respect.
"Officer Marcus, that is a spot-on deduction!"
"The pool of suspects just shrank significantly!"
Marcus checked the clock, his speech speeding up.
"Everyone, get the leads organized and draft the analysis report immediately. Our logic must be the tightest and most complete. Other groups might reach this conclusion eventually, but we are going to beat them to it. We take the first round of points with a flawless report!"
The atmosphere turned frantic as the sound of flipping pages and rapid typing filled the air. Marcus’s group was clearly one step ahead.
"The killers are elite swimmers, diving experts, and at least one of them has professional knowledge of ship mechanics."
Marcus’s thoughts were becoming increasingly clear. He grabbed his phone. "I have a contact who runs a diving club near those waters. I am calling him now to see if he can provide a list of people who fit the profile."
