Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 459: Blades in the Snow

Nancy immediately reported the findings to Tammy.

Inside the command center, Tammy synced the data to the main screen. A fragmented path began to appear, formed by the points of abnormal animal activity.

"The reaction is showing up. It is in the northwest, near Moonslide Peak!"

Nancy’s voice was full of excitement she could not suppress. "We have to move!"

The officers in charge of the pursuit were equally energized, their eyes fixed on the winding path leading deep into the mountains.

However, Antonio, the ground operations commander, stared at the map with a heavy frown. He tapped the name Moonslide Peak firmly, tracing the complex terrain lines of the area.

"Nancy, Simon, we are going after him, no question." Antonio’s voice was heavy with the caution of a veteran detective. "But this route is dangerous."

He pulled up the satellite imagery and real time weather data.

"The terrain near Moonslide Peak is a maze of deep valleys and steep slopes. Many areas are completely impassable for vehicles, meaning we would have to go on foot. And looking at this weather," he said, pointing to a mass of clouds approaching on the screen, "we are expecting heavy snowfall within the next six hours. Visibility will be terrible, and the snow will pile up fast."

He looked at the group, laying out the most realistic obstacles.

"Tracking in this weather and terrain will slow us down to a crawl, possibly making us half as fast as our target. Worse yet, if the snow blocks the pass once we are inside, we might not even be able to retreat. This isn't just a manhunt; it is a battle against the elements and the land itself."

The room went silent. Antonio’s assessment had effectively killed the initial burst of adrenaline, replacing it with a grim realization of the stakes.

Just then, a low rumble of engines and a commotion of voices came from outside.

One of Antonio’s subordinates burst through the door, unable to hide his excitement. "Hey! Mr. Goodman sent equipment! Everyone, come outside and see!"

Antonio was the first one out.

Nancy followed him and was stunned by the sight.

Two large transport trucks were parked in the clearing with their rear doors wide open, revealing rows of brand new, gleaming snowmobiles. Their rugged roll cages, wide tracks, and streamlined bodies glinted with a cold, metallic luster under the snowy light.

There were over thirty of them, all top tier imported models, radiating power.

Jorgan stepped forward to introduce them to the officers. "These are the latest intelligent snowmobiles, rushed here by Mr. Goodman."

"They feature specialized dashboards that can operate reliably in temperatures as low as forty degrees below zero, and," he said, patting the side of a machine, "they are integrated with high precision terrain sensing systems. They can analyze snow depth and ice stability in real time, even warning of potential swamps or ice cracks."

Antonio walked around one of the machines twice, unable to hold back a sharp intake of breath. "My god... these things, you didn't fly them in directly from abroad, did you?"

Jorgan smiled slightly. "No. These were actually specialized transport units we had pre-positioned in a nearby secret warehouse to escort the Elpis samples to a backup airport. Since the reagents were stolen and tracking the criminal is now the priority, they will be put to much better use here."

Jorgan made a welcoming gesture. "Everyone, please familiarize yourselves with the gear."

The officers swarmed the trucks, and a wave of impressed murmurs broke out.

"This feel... these specs!"

"Good lord, this dashboard is military grade, isn't it?"

One of the more knowledgeable team members whispered to a colleague. "Look at the branding. One of these would cost at least five hundred thousand on the market! We never see this kind of equipment in normal cases!"

Jorgan turned to Nancy and Simon. "Miss Nancy, Officer Simon. Mr. Goodman has prepared specialized equipment for you as well."

Nancy blinked. "For us too?"

Before she could finish, a completely different sound echoed from the distance. It was not the roar of an engine, but the rapid thud of hooves against the snow, mixed with wild, excited barks that pierced through the wind.

The group turned to look.

At the edge of the vast snowy plain, a swift grey shadow tore through the snow like an arrow. It was Star.

The purebred Wolfdog leapt through the knee deep snow with incredible speed.

Behind Star, several riders emerged as if galloping out of an ancient painting. Barry led the group, followed by seven or eight riders in traditional attire, each mounted on a powerful Oroqen horse.

Bows and lassos hung from their saddles. Their eyes were as sharp as hawks as they sat silently on their horses in the wind, looking like a group of ancient hunters at one with the forest and snow.

The horses pawed at the snow, exhaling clouds of white mist.

Barry pulled gently on the reins, and his horse came to a steady halt, its hooves striking the snow in a final, rhythmic beat.
