Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 374: Operation Typhoon
Nancy’s expression sharpened. "How many people are on site?"
The little sand rat stood on its hind legs, its tiny paws gesturing frantically. "Four of the two legged ones are moving things! But I heard them talking. It sounds like they have more of their kind scattered around elsewhere."
She immediately passed the intel to Graham.
"Iron crates with flashing red lights?"
Graham’s eyes glinted with sudden excitement. "They are likely moving the central hub used to track our military movements. That hardware is expensive, but the real prize is the data inside. If we secure those drives, we can trace the signal and rip out their entire network by the roots. This is the big one."
He slammed his fist into his palm. "We have to take them all down in one go, equipment and all."
Once the plan was set, Graham had the technicians fit the animal team with micro cameras and GPS trackers. The devices were high tech and designed to shift their camouflage based on the color of the animal’s fur.
Since Snowball and Master Crow were the veterans of the group, their gear was custom made. Master Crow’s collar was a sleek matte black with subtle gold engraving. He preened in front of a mirror and admired his reflection while flapping his wings.
"Now this is more like it! Finally, a look that fits my grandeur I am done with that pathetic plastic kid's watch. It did absolutely nothing for my refined aesthetic."
Beside him, Snowball received a custom white tactical vest. He gave it a curious sniff before sliding into it with ease. He spun a few laps on the spot, his eyes bright with excitement.
Nancy fought back a smile as she teased them. "Not a bad haul for a business trip, right? This is top tier military hardware. You could not buy this anywhere else."
Master Crow cocked his head and pretended to groom his feathers while secretly showing off the new gear. "It is about time my equipment caught up to my net worth."
The sound of heavy tactical boots approached. Snowball, perched on Nancy’s shoulder, widened his eyes. "Wow! Look at Simon! He has a whole new combat suit!"
Nancy looked up and felt her heart skip. Simon had traded his civilian clothes for an alpine special ops uniform. The stark white gear made his tall frame look like a mountain pine, and his naturally cold demeanor blended perfectly with the tactical aesthetic. He carried a black metal sniper case, his movements sharp and full of purpose.
"I had no idea you were a sniper." Nancy watched him, her eyes fixed on the sleek rifle case. How many more secrets was he hiding?
Simon stopped in front of her, his gaze heavy with concern. "This is not like the other jobs. These people are likely armed and dangerous. You will be working with the animals in the open, which puts you in the line of fire. I will be in the shadows with the rifle. I will be your shadow, clearing any threats before they get close to you."
Nancy felt a tug at her heart. She turned to the lynx standing quietly beside her, who was already tensed and ready for the hunt.
"Can I ask you for a favor? Look after Simon. Watch his back for me."
A sniper needed total concentration, which meant they had to trust someone else with their life. In this frozen wasteland, nobody was better suited for the job than a lethal, eagle eyed lynx.
The lynx’s claws slid out just a fraction, a cold light reflecting in its amber eyes. "Consider it done."
With the birds acting as eyes in the sky and a deadly predator guarding the ground, Nancy was ready. She wanted to see which fool would be brave enough to cross them.
The various squads finished assembling and stood in a grim line under the cover of night. Graham’s voice rang out with total authority. "The code name for this mission is Operation Typhoon."
To keep the enemy in the dark, the team split into small units to infiltrate the mountains. Hunter and Master Crow acted as the aerial surveillance, tracking every movement on the ground while keeping the team’s tracks hidden. The powerhouse and the strategist worked in perfect sync, rallying the local birds as they went. The mountain natives became a network of silent sentries, all united against the intruders.
Crimson Valley sat deep in the snow capped peaks. The team reached the mid slope without being detected.
The car door opened and a blast of freezing wind lashed at them, carrying fine grains of snow. Before them lay a world of endless white. Dark spruce and cedar forests stood like silent guardians on the slopes, their branches sagging under the weight of the snow.
The moment Nancy stepped out, the biting cold hit her hard and sent a shiver through her entire body.
"I'm here!"
