Animal Whisperer: Take Back My Life and Love Chapter 372: The Recruitment Pitch

5 min 1 views

When the staff at the Wildlife Rescue Center first found Hunter, the blood-crazed raptor had nearly died from gorging himself.

Days of constant standoff had left the falconer with bloodshot eyes and a scruffy, unkempt beard. He looked up at Nancy and stared in pure disbelief. "This little girl? You are telling me she is the new challenger you mentioned?"

He glanced worriedly at Hunter, who was still fuming inside the cage. "Are you sure she won't burst into tears the second she gets close to that monster?"

Graham stepped forward and introduced her with a grave tone. "This is Dracovia’s top expert in animal communication. Do not let her youth fool you. Her abilities are extraordinary."

The falconer crossed his arms, his face full of skepticism. "Our people have lived alongside raptors for generations. No one understands the temperament of a Golden Eagle better than we do. What is so impressive about taming a crow?" He let out a soft snort. "Crows are clever. They will follow you for a few treats. But a Golden Eagle is the sovereign of the skies. They would rather die than submit."

Master Crow nearly bristled with rage when he heard that. "What is that supposed to mean? Is he throwing shade at my integrity? Is he implying I am just in it for the money?! Woman, hurry up and slap his face with some results!"

While they spoke, Nancy had already discreetly produced a specially made meatball. She had mixed lean meat with easily digestible yam puree and probiotic-rich fermented grains to soothe the delicate digestive tract of a raptor.

Nancy gently tossed the meatball into the cage.

The previously restless eagle lowered its head to sniff it before suddenly falling silent and bolting the morsel down. It raised its piercing eyes to lock onto Nancy. The murderous aura in its gaze softened slightly, though it still retained its regal arrogance.

"The things you feed me actually suit my palate. However, do not think for a second that this is enough to make me bow my head!"

Nancy tossed him another meatball and spoke in a coaxing tone. "Hunter, aren't you bored sitting in this cage all day? Don't you want to join me and pull off something big? Do you want to go out and show off our power together?"

This line clearly piqued Hunter’s interest. His sharp eyes darted back and forth.

Perched on Nancy’s shoulder, Master Crow cleared his throat, looking every bit the professional headhunter. "Hunter, with your skills, isn't it stifling to be cooped up in this tiny cage? Our Bird Gang is exactly in need of a top-tier expert like you! We provide room, board, and full medical coverage. Your job would be training rookies and keeping everyone in line. It is a position truly worthy of your status!"

At that moment, Nancy had already connected a video call to the agricultural base via her tablet. She projected the footage onto the large educational screen opposite the enclosure. Now it was time for Master Crow’s network to do the heavy lifting.

The screen flickered to life.

On the plaza of the agricultural base at the other end of the lens, rows upon rows of various raptors were lined up. The sounds of hawks screeching and eagles crying echoed through the air. The birds shifted formations in the sky, at times piercing forward like sharp swords and at others circling like a whirlwind. They looked like a highly disciplined aerial guard.

No one would have guessed that this imposing Raptor Legion was actually composed of the old, weak, and disabled who struggled to survive in the wild.

Master Crow’s elder brother, a massive Golden Eagle, stood proudly atop the highest sentry tower. His sharp gaze swept over the field like a majestic gang boss.

Hunter had never seen such a spectacle and stood there completely stunned. He had previously thought being the tyrant of this desert was impressive enough, but he had clearly underestimated the world. To think an eagle could command such a massive legion of raptors! The strength of this Bird Gang was simply unfathomable.

Just as Hunter assumed the Golden Eagle was the leader of the flock, Nancy looked into the camera and lightly snapped her fingers. Her voice was gentle. "Hey birds, thank you for the hard work in training!"

A breathtaking scene unfolded.

The raptor square that had been speeding through the air instantly froze. Every single bird turned simultaneously toward the screen. They tucked their wings in perfect unison and stood tall with a burning, fervent adoration in their eyes.

"Ms. Nancy! Did you see the results of our training?"

"We are standing guard diligently every day. Not a single seed has been lost!"

"You gave us a second life!"

The chorus of cries was filled with deep emotion. These raptors, the underachievers who had struggled to survive in the wild, had found a new sense of purpose through Nancy. The job of protecting the seeds made every bird believe they were not weaklings waiting for nature to weed them out. They were warriors capable of carrying heavy responsibilities. They were guarding the nation’s vital seeds at the agricultural base!

In the future, they would even be written into human reports. Humans would remember their Avian Security Detail! It was a total boost to bird morale. Their entire lives now had a sense of hope.

Such powerful charisma caused Hunter’s sharp eyes to round in shock. He turned toward the petite human before him in utter disbelief. "You... you are a little thing whose wingspan isn't even as long as mine, yet you can make these proud raptors so fiercely loyal to you?"
