CHIARA: “Your first link! How could I not be excited.” She practically screamed. Which drew her parents to the door to see what was going on with her. I hugged her. “I know, right?” I chuckled. “Ok, so, why do you need my dad’s truck?” she asked. Eyeing the bike. “I got a job, a real job.” I said. “and I found an efficiency to live in. But I need help to get the bed I bought to it, so I was hoping that your dad would help.” I said. Waiting for the explosion that I knew she would give. Yep! Boom! She lets out the biggest scream I have ever heard from her. She throws herself at me. I was ready for it, and I caught her in a huge hug. “DADDY! DADDY!” Esha called out. Mr. Hill came to the door. “Yes, baby?” He answered her. “Chi needs help to get a bed moved. Can we help her? Please?!!” she asked him, with the biggest puppy eyes I ever saw her use. “Yes, I suppose we can help her move a bed.” He said. I watched as she jumped up and hugged her dad. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!” She kissed his cheek with every thank you. He smiled at his little princess, who wasn’t so little anymore. “Alright, alright.” He said, disentangling himself from her hug. “Where are we getting the bed from, and where are we moving it to?” he asked. “The second-hand store on Wilks. And going to the apartment building on Shire near the factory district.” I said. “That’s a bit of a rough area.” Mr. Hill said. “Yes, sir. I know, but it’s all I can afford at the moment. And the job I got isn’t too far away from there, in a bit nicer area.” I said. “Alright, let’s get your bed moved in.” he said. And went to get his truck. “May I leave my bike here until we are done?” I asked. “Yes.” He said. And the three of us piled into his truck and headed to the second-hand store to get my bed. We parked in the lot at the store, and I went in to talk to the manager to let him know I was back and was here to pick up my bed. He has a couple of his guys bring it out and helped get it loaded in Mr. Hill’s truck. Once the bed was loaded, I directed him to the apartment building where I had my efficiency. I was on the second floor, so it was a little bit of work to get the mattress up the stairs, but we got it done and put it together. So, I would have a bed to sleep in tonight. “This is my new place.” I said to Iesha and Mr. Hill. “Are you sure about living here?” Mr. Hill asked me. “It’s the only thing I can afford right now. So yeah, I’m sure.” I said. “It’s nice inside here.” Esha says. “Even if the neighborhood isn’t the greatest.” I smile at her. “After I get a couple of paychecks under my belt, I plan on getting the locks changed, and I will be able to make it my own space.” I said to her. “Thank you so much for helping me today, Mr. Hill. Once I get everything settled, I will have all of you over for a meal.” I tell them. “You are very welcome, Chiara. And as for the meal, there is no need for it.” He tells me. “I know, but I want to.” I said. He nodded at me. “Let's get home, so you don’t have to come back in the dark.” He said. And we walked out, and I locked the door. It felt surreal; it was my place. I couldn’t help but smile. We all got back into the truck, and Mr. Hill drove us back to the Hill home. I stayed for a little while to help Iesha study and then left. I stopped at the gas station and bought some staples from there: bread, milk, butter, a frozen pizza, and a box of cereal. Just to get me started. I got to my new home. I locked my bike up in the corner of the front entryway, grabbed my groceries, and headed back up to my space. Unlocked the door and walked in, closed, locked, and put the chain on the door. “Well, Jace, it’s not what we planned, but I’m here.” I said out loud. And smiled, I popped the pizza in the toaster oven that came with the place, and put the rest of my things away. While I was waiting for the pizza, I started to arrange the space to my liking. Putting my clothes in one of the two closets, just like at the orphanage. I used the nightstands in the same way, but this time I had more drawer space. But one of the bottom drawers was still designated for Jace’s things. I was happy with the progress I made by the time the pizza was done. I took it out, cut it up, sat at the small table, and ate. When I was done, I grabbed my sketch book and sketched out a picture of Jace. I was going to try to use him as a canvas for that new technique I want to try, as well as using Thena. After I finished getting Jace drawn out, I was tired. Even though it was still somewhat early, I changed into my sleepwear and went to bed.

JAYDEN: I don’t know why, but Steel was pacing in my mind all afternoon, since the confrontation with Mother. (“Steel?”) (“Need Mate.”) (“We will go see her after dinner.”) (“Don’t trust Mother.”) He growled (“I know, buddy, I don’t either.”) I answered him. I looked over at Caiden and could see he was dealing with Axel as well. Then he linked me. “Axel wants Chi, and yes, he said Chi.” Caiden said.  “Steel said he wants his mate. He doesn’t trust mother.”  I answered back. “We’ll go after dinner.” He said, and I agreed.

CAIDEN: Once dinner was over, Jayden and I were just about to leave when Mother intercepted us. “Where are you two going? Did you call your grandmother yet?” she asked us. She wasn’t yelling, but she was pissed, and we heard it in her tone. “No, mother, we have not called grandma yet. We will, and we will explain everything to her just the way we explained it to you.” I said. “But right now there is something we need to take care of.” Jayden said to her. “And just what would you have to take care of at this time of the evening? Going to see that worthless human?” “SHE is not WORTHLESS, and she is not human. SHE is our MATE!” I seethed in her face. And we left. We knocked on the door to the orphanage and waited for someone to answer. It was one of the younger children. “Can we help you, Alphas?” the boy asked. “We would like to see Chiara.” I said. “Oh, Umm, she doesn’t live here anymore.
