BRAANDI: So we would have to go check it out and make sure that it was cleaned up.

CHIARA: I slept very well last night. I was back with Salene and the pups, but Jace was there. And I mean, really there. I got to hug him, talk to him, like we used to when he was here. I miss him; he is the big brother I didn’t have. The family that I got to pick. He was giving Thena and Deena belly rubs when I came upon him. And those two were lapping it up. Minxes. “They’re sweet.” He said,  nodding toward the pups. “Yes, when I was in the coma, I was here with them.” I told him. “Chi, don’t try to find my family, please. They aren’t nice people; they won’t care if I’m dead.” He said. “How could they not care?” I asked him. “The family I remember is on my dad’s side, and they were snobs, only cared about what you could do for them, or if they could get money from you.” He told me. “Here.” And he pulled a few more strands of his hair and gave them to me so I could fix my bracelet better. And when I woke up, I had them in my hand. So, I know it was real. I got to work and fixed my bracelet. I couldn’t wait to share everything with Iesha; I was practically buzzing with wanting to tell her. She is going to flip when I tell her that I was with Salene again, and I got to see Jace. I took out the twins’ necklaces and continued to work on them, hoping that I wouldn’t get any unexpected visits today, fingers crossed. I was working on putting the river, or maybe a stream, on the piece; it was all up to how I placed the beads. To show contrast and definition between the landscaping. With the picture. It was easy. Just draw the line to show the difference in where something was, or what it was. With the necklaces, the different color beads were the lines and borders; it wasn’t so easy. But I was getting it done.

IESHA: I don’t know what it was, but people were bumping into me off and on throughout the day; it seemed like every time I had my backpack with me, people just kept bumping into me. It was almost as if I had a sign on my backpack that said, ‘Bump me,’ or something. It was crazy. By the time school was out, I felt like a fricking pinball getting bounced all over the place. I did ask if Chi needed her schoolwork now that she was out of her coma, and I was told that she could test out of her classes. So, I asked if I could get samples for her so she knew what she would need to study up on, so she could do that. Most of her teachers said that if she could answer the questions at the end of the chapters of her textbooks, she should be ok. So, I made sure that I had all her books for her so she could study, not knowing how much longer she would actually be in the clinic for. And after the day I had,  I couldn’t wait to get the heck out of school and go see her, and see how far she got on the twins’ necklaces.

CARRI: A lot of the kids at school were acting strange; they kept coming up to Cas and me, like they were sniffing us. It was weird. I almost snapped a few times. Cas had to calm me down; it was weird to say the least. I don’t know how Cassie was able to put up with it. Because it was starting to drive me crazy. I even had a teacher come up and sniff me. Yuck. It wasn’t until lunch that I realized it had something to do with my backpack, so I left it in my locker until after school was out and then got it for the trip home.

CASSIE: What has gotten into the kids at school? It’s as if someone took, oh, I don’t know, something like a she-wolf’s heat scent and made it into a spray or something the way they were all acting, coming up to Carri and me sniffing at us. It was just weird. And to top it all off, I had to keep Carri in check so she wouldn’t get into trouble for knocking someone’s teeth down their throat. I swear she can be worse than Valen sometimes. But with the way everybody was acting, I had a thought. I went straight to Valen and Brandi. “Ok, I want you two to take a whiff of my backpack.” I said. “Why?” “Because everybody that got close to Carri and me today kept sniffing us, it was annoying as all get out, and I had to contend with Car all day to keep her from taking someone’s head off.” I said. I watched as they both took a whiff. “The scent is stimulating. But not in an aggressive way, more like a playful way.” Valen said. “Do you think there is a way that we can find out what it is and neutralize it? I don’t relish having to go through another day like today, and trying to keep a lid on Carri.” I said. “We could go ask at the clinic, and see if we can get it tested there.” Valen said. “Ok, let me link Carri to meet us there.” They nodded. I linked Carri to bring her backpack and meet us at the clinic. And we headed out.

CHIARA: “I had the craziest day today.” Iesha said the minute she walked through the door of my room. I had Nurse Baker get me a whiteboard so I could communicate without stressing my voice, and it could be erased so that nobody could know my conversations. ‘What happened?’ I wrote. The kids at school were just being weird. They kept bumping into me, and sniffing me; it was gross.” ‘That is weird.’ I wrote. And she nodded. ‘Hey, I was with Salene last night. Jace was there.’ “Did you get to talk to him?” she asked. ‘Yes, he told me not to look for his family, he said that they weren’t nice people, and that they wouldn’t care that he was dead. He said that it was enough for him that I cared.’ I wrote. “I’m sorry, Chi, I know how much you wanted to find them and tell them about Jace.” She said. ‘Yes, well, I guess that is now off my list.  I don’t want anything to do with them if they are going to be like that about him being dead.’ “Does that mean you’ll stay?” she asked hopefully ‘I don’t know, I still don’t trust the ranked squad, and I sure as hell don’t trust the luna not to try something else to get rid of us humans, even though there aren’t that many of us in the pack, she hates us, and probably even more so now that she is in the dungeon.’ I wrote.
