Alpha Twins' Mate's broken Human Chapter 28
CHIARA: out at the pups that are surrounding us. “But the ones I live with, other than Iesha, Donna, and a few others. Yes. The ranked wolves are supposed to protect the weaker wolves, correct? And not bully them. And with me being human, I am even weaker than an omega, and yet, where am I? I don’t even know.” “Your body is in the clinic in a coma, and you are here with me.” “And you ask me if I think your children are monsters? How can I not? If I am in a coma.” “It was not their wolves that did this to you; it was their humans, remember that.” She answers me in a soft voice. “Can’t I stay? Please?” “I thought you wanted to find Jace’s family and let them know he is dead.” “I do; they have a right to know.” “That won’t happen if you stay here.” She said softly. I nodded. “May I ask you something?” I asked. “What is on your mind?” “How is it that I am here? I mean, I am not a wolf, and I thought that you only dealt with wolves, shifters.” “No, those who believe can hear and see me as well.” “I don’t understand.” “Yes, you do. Or you wouldn’t have invoked my name on every card that you have given them.” “I did that because of them; they believe, or at least I think they do. But it hasn’t worked, has it? They still hurt and bully the orphans and the few humans in the pack.” I tell her. “You also need to remember it's not all on the younger ones; they follow the lead of their elders, specifically one in your case.” “But why does she hate us?” “I do not know, that would be a question for her to answer. Dear one.” She says to me. I nod in response. I turn back to the pups. “They are so sweet.” “Yes, but remember, they are not dogs, they are wolves, and though dogs are descendants, they lack the wild drive of their cousins. Wolves are meant to hunt and kill their prey for their survival. It is the way of nature.” She says as a reminder to me that they are still wild. “But even so, in the wild, the Pack still makes sure that the pack as a whole is cared for; even if there may be one or two that are picked on for the most part, they still get looked after, cared for.” I replied to her.
DERRIC: I examined the ground in the area where the boys took me. “Where is this rock?” I asked them. “We dug it up and moved it so that what happened to Jace wouldn’t happen again. We didn’t want him dead, just hurt, like Brandon.” Jayden said. “Show me where you put the rock.” I followed them into the wooded area, on the east-west line opposite the school’s trajectory of north-south. We walked for about 20 minutes into the woods, and they stopped. “We dropped it here.” They pointed to a rock, which was rather large, not boulder size, but still quite large for a rock. I could still smell the blood, even though it was old. It was human. I linked the doc. “I need a blood kit out at the woods behind the school.” “Yes, Alpha.” I closed the link and waited for them. “Alpha?” I hear someone call out. “Here.” I call back. I hear the med tech coming closer. “Alpha?” “Keep coming, you are almost to us.” I called back. Then I see him come into the space where we were standing. I pointed at the rock. “I need that blood tested, and DNA checked against Jace’s records.” I tell the tech. “Yes, Alpha.” He says. “Let's go. Let him do his job.” I say to the boys. I turned and headed back towards the pack house. The boys followed behind me. When we got back to the Pack house, I turned to them. “You have today to do whatever you want. Starting tomorrow, you will start your vigils, and tomorrow night, you will be in the cells. When your mother gets home, she will be joining you in the cells, and while you will be standing your vigils and doing your training, she will be cleaning the cells.” I tell the kids. “And again, if Chiara does not survive, she will join you in the rest of your punishment. As she is the reason that Chiara is in a coma right now, it is because you were following her commands.” I say to them. They nodded. I returned to my office.
JAYDEN: After coming back from the woods, and with father’s words echoing in my head, I turned to the others. “I am for getting some lunch, and then we can figure out our next steps from there.” They nodded in agreement.
VALEN: “Honestly, guys, I don’t like the idea of throwing the Luna under the bus. It feels like a betrayal.” “I know Valen. I do. But it’s better if it goes down this way, instead of what could happen.” Caiden said. “Caid is right, Valen, you heard father, if she dies, we all get to feel the bite of the whip. And if that happens, Mother won’t stand up for any of us. Doing this helps him see that we are taking responsibility for our part in Mother’s schemes.” Jayden said. “You don’t know that. She has always stood up for us before.” I state. “Only when there was no suspicion on her.” Says Jayden. “Jay is right, when there has been suspicion on her, she has always thrown it back towards us, with comments like, ‘you know how kids can be.’ Or ‘the kids were just sticking up for me.’ These were her deflections, and where did that put the blame? Back on us.” Caiden says. “Still, it doesn’t feel right.” I said.
CASSIE: “Shouldn’t someone warn her about what she will be walking into when she gets home?” “NO!” all the guys answer in unison. “That’s pretty cold of all of you.” I said. “Haven’t you been listening to anything?” Vince said. “If we warn her, we will get more punishment. Do you want that?” Chad asked. “Nobody wants punishment! Dumbass!” I said. “That’s right, nobody wants it, but if you tell her, then you risk the wrath of the Alpha and subjecting yourself to a harsher punishment, because neither I nor the rest of the guys will go down that road with you.” Chad said.
JAYDEN: We had spent most of the afternoon sitting in the Pack dining hall discussing the issue of our punishment, and not informing our mother of what she would be coming home to. Caiden and I know the full extent of her anger, and we know that we will more than likely be on the receiving end of it for not telling her, but none of us wants to be on the receiving end of Father’s wrath.
CHAD: “I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am going back to the clinic. I just need to make sure she is still with us.” I told the rest of them.
